I've been smoking marijuana for over 10 years and especially heavily during my development phase (18-25). I didn't know any better and self pleasure was just my thing until after 30. I lost my job, my career is gone, I've had sex with more prostitutes than actual women and I've lost many great relationships because of these sickly habits I indulge in. It's not just marijuana but porn, pills, etc. I vow to never to take another recreational drug again (including caffeine/alcohol). Is my brain permanently fucked though? I mean can I ever feel that peace inside my head I once did as a kid? Did drugs/porn fuck me up that much?

Nah...you’ll be fine. Just give yourself some time to discover the old you (before the recreational activities).

I’ll tell you this: living in this world completely sober is damaging enough to our bodies. Any add ons accelerate the damage, and it complies as you age. You’re going to have to make some serious changes if you want to reverse the damage.

Just do the best you can with the time you have left. When we constantly feed ourselves with things that temporarily elevate our mood like drugs and digital entertainment we start to lose the ability to enjoy the simple things in life. I've seen people who are permanently damaged - usually from heroic amounts of methamphetamine and/ or alcohol - but I truly believe that most of us can salvage and rediscover our selves if we simply remove all those stimuli for a certain time.
