I thought that coming here daily would help stem the urges I get, I think that it gave me more time to delay acting out but I always gave in. So I'd go away in defeat any way and it got worse. This last time was very bad even if for just a day, I couldn't get anything done and I was disgusted once again with myself. So I say no matter what, since we're all human and can fail despite striving that I will stay and continue this fight. It has really put a dark side into my life.

Keep up the fight. You can win though. One of the things is to recognize after you have decided to act out or view pornography that you can decide right then to make changes. Wallowing doesn't help. Brushing it off like it was nothing doesn't help either. Feel the pain, without the shame, and the ACT. DO something different. If you haven't tried professional help I would highly recommend it. I have some great resources if you want. Feel free to send me a message.

Thanks for the reply. I was in therapy for a while last year, but the insurance ran out and I can't afford it now. Also I tried a 12 step group but I wasn't consistent with it. Now most of that is out the window because of the pandemic so this is my main resource, though I will go through the forums and check out some video links. I've fooled myself many times that it was ok, but it's not or I wouldn't be here. Must get through these urges, they are very powerful and overwhelming at times - but I will continue to try and understand, and fight this addiction. I'll know I'm trying to fool myself again if I'm in the middle of the urge and the desire to give in overtakes me. It's been too easy a choice to mess up. Must find a different way to see it.

Saa/sa groups still meet, they just do it by phone.

  5. It all starts in the mind, not the body. Start a new thought habit: Every time the temptation enters your mind, reject it immediately. It is not an option. Don't dwell on it. To let your thoughts linger on forbidden themes is to set yourself up for failure; your body will surely follow suit. The mind is the master of the body; if the mind holds firm, the temptation can be overcome. It will take willpower, but this must be directed to the mental battle, not the physical.
