Interesting article. Thanks for sharing, although I would need to read it again more carefully when I got the time, I have a couple of things to say. It seems like this guy (an anonymous expert with a PhD obviously) hasn't even read the book, but only watched the TEDx talk.

But in his defense, the research we have when it comes to porn addiction has only recently started to emerge and most evidence is anecdotal. Gary Wilson actually admits that and encourages people to form their conclusions through their own experiments. Of all the research we have though, it's interesting how that expert didn't present any and then try to point out the problems with it. He simply stated that there isn't any that proves Wilson's points. Hardly persuading, isn't it?

One thing I totally agree with him though is that there are underlying problems that lead to compulsory use of porn. That doesn't make porn addiction invalid though. It's true, porn addiction is a manifestation of another psychological issue. Knowing this and at the same time abstaining to see how you can feel that void is most helpful in my opinion.

And by the way, he's wrong that the NoFap has started with Gary Wilson and his book. It's amazing that he think Gary Wilson has so much power. Though this may not refute any of his statements, it makes him look not that persuasive from the start as he hasn't even tested his own conclusions. If he only googled about what started NoFap...

And I too think women can be objectified. Am I a sex-negative feminist too? How do you link objectification with sex-negativity exactly? You know two persons can have sex without objectifying each other, right?

There are records of people relapsing after long duration of abstaining.

I think that the longer you abstain the less urges u will feel. But there will times that the urges hitting high points within that period and it might overwhelm you.
Im at day 130 and my urges just came to visit me after being dormant for around 100days.

We have to stay vigilant in this journey thats the only choice.

Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.

This should be a nofap motto or something. Btw good post OP.

Hang in there, brother. I made the mistake of staying inside after watching and that only prolonged my urges. Walking or simply getting out to drink a cup of coffee with a friend helps.

130 days is an amazing streak by the way. You now belong to a very low percentage of those who do nofap imo. But vigilance is always required it seems.

About the quote, I read it in a book written by James Allen, an English philosopher. He had it in quotes too, so it's not his. I think the book was called From Passion to Peace. Great book and it was very helpful during nofap for me.

Nice, man! This is what we need under those circumstances. Taking a breath and being aware of ourselves.

Why did you share with me this rationalwiki article? It doesn't mention once Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson being the reason of the NoFap.

As with the second link, I am not sure what it proves for you. There are people who complain about the article focusing too much on feminism or that it doesn't include objectification towards men. No one there claims that the concept of objectification doesn't exist.

Someone even says that "Sexual objectification, as a concept laid-out by Kant, pre-dates feminism (broadly speaking) by around a century and continues on to the present as a topic of philosophical, psychological and sociological discussion.". That actually counters your thesis of the concept of objectification as having been crafted by feminism.

Are you even checking what you're sharing? They actually confirm 1) that the NoFap wasn't started by Gary Wilson and Marnia Robinson and 2) that sexual objectification is a concept that is related to the feminism movement but it's not a feminist theory.
