I ain't an expert but if you're goal is to not watch porn it wouldn't reset your counter. I am trying not to fap until I lose my virginity, if I choked the chicken then my counter would reset. It's up to you if it resets your counter.

Can't say for sure that one will never touch his junk again for the next five decades until he's six feet under, but trying to keep it minimal will do you well. Sometimes, sh*t happens, but if you don't do it so regularly, I know you will feel more energised and happy. Instead of wasting that excess energy on masturbation, why not you use it for more productive activities such as sports and working out? You can approach NoFap from many different perspectives, everyone has different goals, preferences and philosophies. Some keep the masturbation, some go celibate, some without the willpower will stay addicted. well it's your life and your body, so none of us can tell you what you *have to* do with it ;-) And about the counter, it depends on the kind of counter you take. Will it say '... days since I M'd or edged' then of course you should reset it if you masturbate (wet dreams of course don't count). If it says '... days since I watched P or P subs' then M'ing doesn't mean resetting the counter since you didn't watch porn. You can also take, for example, two counters like I have, and use the M one to be able to keep track of the M frequency and see if it's to your satisfaction (no pun intended ;-) ).
