I'm New Here

Hello everyone,


I’m new here, and I have been in 12 step recovery for porn and Internet chat since 2011. I have had mixed success, but now am trying this. I am hoping to have more success here. I read the introductory Brain Hacks guide and found it insightful and inspiring.


I think my biggest challenge in dealing with porn and chat is that I have a lot of free time. I work from home and on my own schedule.


Also, I want to put some porn blocking software on my computer, but I have administrative rights to my computer and not sure if I couldn’t just as easily disable it. I may need to find someone to be my password keeper, and I think I know someone in my family who will do that for me. I'll ask in another forum room about the kinds of software you use.


I recently went several months without Internet chat, but I still looked at porn nearly every day. And I recently had a chat relapse. I know this is a porn-addiction group, but I just want to say I have an additional problem with Internet chat and chatrooms. I hope to give both of these up and live a happier life.


I’m looking forward to learning from all of you. Sometimes I think this goal of giving up sexual acting out is not even possible, but I want to try again. Maybe that is part of my purpose in this life, to overcome this seemingly insurmountable obstacle.
