I'm on the highest streak I've ever been, but I need advice!

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, May 6, 2017.

  1. Hello everyone,

    I've
finally reached the milestone of Day 28 or 27 Days. Breaking my previous streaks of Day 18 & Day 28 respectively.

I usually end up looking at pictures of pretty women (nothing NSFW), that lead to me actually searching up NSFW pictures. I haven't done that, but I notice myself trying to do so. Now I'm experiencing the same old brain fog I've been tricked by previously.

"Go ahead and look, they're beautiful" etc.

And the temptation to O is extremely strong.

But alas, I suffer from PIED and I know that this will set me back. I'm way past that. I just wanted to get this off my chest and also ask for advice for rewiring with real women and stopping my urges.

Apart from: (These are what I'm doing now)

    • Cutting off artificial sexual stimuli & fantasy
    • Using the computer more than is necessary
    • Focusing on the gym
    • Focusing on my studies (Which I've significantly made improvements in)
Is there anything else I could do that's beneficial to my reboot?

    Warm Regards,
    Captain

Ice cold showers. Start taking them every day. Start cold right off the bat; count to 3 and jump in! The sooner you get that initial shock over the cold the better the shower will get.

  3. I relapsed after 27 something days (my highest). DO NOT DO THIS. It is horrible, relapsing I mean. The benefits like focusing on gym school. And everything disappeared. Bog mistake

  4. Thank you, I will definitely implement those starting today.

Recognize that you have CHOSEN on 28 different days to stay free of PMO and triggering pictures. One day at a time, keep making that choice. You don't have to agree not to look at the pictures forever, just that you're not going to do it today. Give time for the urge to pass.

Read books. You are actually doing really good bro and seem very disciplined. You have to stay vigilant since you are having such strong urges. I recommend you start spending more time outside, if you can go for a hike or ride a bike that is great too get out of the house and be productive.

  7. Focus on other forms of beauty, like nature photography calms me, or big space photography or night sky shots, or just actual sketches and things that are artful and beautiful, but not lustful. That being said, if your brain still tells you to take a look because the women are beautiful, remind yourself that that is someone's daughter, someone's sister, someone's mother etc. How would it make you feel if someone looked that way to a loved one of yours? This is basically what I keep asking myself to make sure that I don't look at women lustfully. Empathy is the strongest driver for changing our habits, imho.
Also try creative outlets. Dabble in sketches, writing, poetry, try everything and stick with any or all of what helps you feel lighter and in a better headspace.
As a last point of note, don't deny the fog, just be aware of it, and tell yourself that it's ok, that fog is just the next stage that you have to work through on the road to full recovery. :) Stay Strong Bro!

Some advise from my side, as these things has been helping me a ton:

    - Try and drink 8 glasses of water a day (about 2L of water a day)
    - Set yourself a time to go to bed and stick to it, using your bed only for sleeping
    - Replace your warm showers with ice cold showers as it's been proven to be extremely healthy, especially for men
    - Do something that makes you exercise your mind, reading books, playing chess etc
    - Try and stay in contact and socialize with friends and family as much as possible, interaction is extremely important

I don't know where you stand on religious grounds, but I think religion could be of help here. In Christianity, we're not really supposed to PMO, we're supposed to overcome these things and the urges that cause relapses and develop and demonstrate self control. It has NOT been an easy road to me, since I am relatively new to Christianity, but there is no problem God can't help you with. Hope you find success in your journey with NoFap, be blessed.

  12. What are the benefits of drinking that much water? And also does it have to be plain water or can it be from other sources? Like Tea and stuff. Milk etc.

What about beer? :p Which is funny because water is one of the main ingredients in beer. Stay thirsty!

Your body is made of 60% of water and every single cell in your body uses water. Some of the benefits include helping to keep your body cool (especially in summer), prevents headaches, prevents kidney stones, helps with weight loss, drinking water on an empty stomach among other things helps flush out toxins etc. There are many more benefits but you can just google it.
