I'm sick of edging!!! Should I reset counter?

    I have edged yesterday. I am sick of edging every 5 to 8 days. I have been doing good in almost everything else. I have been good with lessing the temptations, changing my life around, my views on women, sex, myself. I have experienced flatline on and off for a year i'd say. I am definitely on the last leg of my race. The only reason this is dragging on for so long is because of my edging!!! I'm so sick of it. I thought I have completely blocked all traces of viewing P from all of my electronic devices. Unfortunately, I realized I can look at P subs and basically P from a certain site I thought was blocked. Now that it is truly blocked, I was wondering if I should keep trucking with my counter or reset it? I have probably edged at least 10 times during this streak.
    Now is the time to get serious with edging. I have no problem with not allowing myself to O, its the viewing P and sometimes the M that is the problem. Now that I have shut off almost all connections to that, should I just start with a clean slate and reset my counter?

    Are you asking us for permission to do something? Are you the master of your life or it's bitch? Part of what I have started to see with people and thier programs is a lot of people have a side effect of growing the f#*k up. Our harmless childhood is over and it's time to be adults. If you feel even slightly like you screwed up and should start over why are you even askinh?

    And think long term, what happenes at the end of your 90 days? Or 180 days? Or whatever. Are going to go right back to where you were before?

    But I think you already figured this out. You are addicted to the dopamine release porn watching gives you. Also, you are stuck in a COOLIDGE EFFECT loop. look it up if you're not sure. Your hunt for the next thrill, the next awesome picture, the next great fetish video, or hardcore thing puts you in a constant dopamine release addiction.

    Are you single, do you have a GF or casual sex parterns once in a while?
    If you want to succeed, keep your seeds for real sex only. Also, keep sexual thoughts for the bedroom (with partner).

    You are healing when you flatline and seek no sexual stimulation outside the presence of a sex partner, but once in with a partner, your hardware functions and you have satisfying sex.

    My personal 2 cents!

    I find it virtually unbelievable that you have been using this resource for well over two years - yet you do not know that edging (with or without porn) is the worst thing you can do! Your streaks are non-existent, which is very sad. *sigh*

    Thanks guys. Its seems as though I was fooling myself more than anything. Right after I wrote this, I just reset my counter anyway. In my defense, I have gone a month or so without edging in the past, but what I described in my first post was the norm. I have done the research with ted talks, yourbrainonporn.com, this website and general videos about addiction. I think I was just kidding myself about edging, more than I even realized.
    But thanks again to your true words. this counter will represent a clean streak.

    Fuck,I knew of everything you guys said and yet this has fogged up my brain so much I just swept everything I knew about rebooting under the rug and away from my sight. I seriously thank the four of you on here for either agree with or saying the stuff I needed to put a fire under my ass. I have read these comments three times already. Trucking forward on a new level, with help from you guys.
    Time to grind.

    You are welcome man. That is part of the addiction - rationalisation. :rolleyes: Because it allows the brain to get the dopamine it craves. It is sinister. But, hey, you have had some well-meant pokes and you are back on course - no compromise - yeah!

    I just went a week and one day with no resets, no edging and no fantasies until today. (because of a chaser effect due to dreams). This talk has been great so far gentleman, thank you.

    It means delaying decisions.

    In fact, the addiction is not mainly about porn, it is about fleeing from reality.

    Therefore, the only way is absolute soberness, absolute crystal clear soberness.

    I don't have a counter yet don't know how to get it but I was going to count it on my journal and I edged today because my erection would not go down for a hour I didn't take extenze or any thing I know of that makes you hard so I think it was naturally being horny from not watching porn so I just gave in a drop my load without porn tho just lotion and hand. so I don't know if that counts still or not but I think im going to rest today
