I always say one thing in such situations and that is think of all the lives you are going to affect.
You are not only holding your life in your hands! You are holding other lives as well!
Don't do it and stay strong!
Also contact the suicide hotline in case you have strong urges to do the unthinkable. There is no coming back from that!
There's much that can improve in your life. Don't throw it all away!

Things can get gloomy and it's hard for us to think differently when we're under this veil of depression but this is transient, the brain doesn't see things objectively.

Are there people you love in your life you could spend time with?
  7. Hi @killersunfish1, if possible when you log back on could you please give all of us a heads up and let us know your ok? It might not seem like it but there are many people who care and are available as resources if you need it. PMO is often times associated with feelings of depression. The International Association for Suicide Prevention is one of those resources. Before doing anything you cannot take back please reach out to them. https://www.iasp.info/

I cried when I heard that you are ok. We are never alone, and our life is so precious no matter what our delusions are talking to us. Be strong. For me volunteering change me life, I constantly switch my attention from myself to others. I using my suffering to help others, I was in your possession but with help others I could lift myself up, you can as well, have faith I have in YOU and I will pray for you.

@Bodhidharman sounds to me that if you realize that success will not bring you joy you will stop wanting to end your life.

Your thinking is based on the assumption that you have to be a certain way to be valuable, or worthy.

The assumption in your case comes from a system (capitalism), that values people working to create economic growth, therefore what is valued in society is to be a hard working person, people don't realize that it's not their own original idea, thought, but that of the system they are in. So they peer-pressure each other, measure themselves up to others, compete, judge others etc. If you realize that this mindset is quickly destroying not only people, joy, mental health, but also the entire fucking planet and all its species with it, and that there is noway in hell we are going to keep this pace up, maybe that can bring things into perspective.

Why does it make you sad that your friends are starting one and you're not? Maybe they don't know what the hell they're doing, have you thought about that? Maybe they don't know what to do so they just repeat the patterns they've seen, maybe they're afraid of themselves so they keep reaching for things, for the next thing etc. To stay busy, to feel like they're accomplishing something, "after all, everyone does it so it must be good".

Anyway all your thinking is based on comparing yourself to something else, something that other people have judged is the right thing to be doing. You're judging yourself with a standard that doesn't have to apply to you. Your very existence is enough to justify your existence. You have nothing to prove.

Does that mean you shouldn't strive for a better life based on your standards? Absolutely not, if PMO is eating you away and degrading your experience of life, keep working to get rid of it.

    Good luck. :)
