Alright, this is a longgg shot. Anyone here read Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace?

I just made the connection that this book has actually helped me on my journey against PMO because it outlines a communal approach to beating addiction.

It's weirdly inspiring, but also a massive read. I would recommend if you have a lot of time on your hands. Inspiration to kick PMO can come from weird places.

Just gave a quick scroll of your account, and you seem like the man for the challenge.

The only thing that got me through the book was that I was taking an Existentialism class where we had to sit down down for literally 6hours and communally read silently every week. we read Dostoevsky's Brothers Karamazov, Inf. Jest, and two Marilynne Robinson reads, "Housekeeping" and "Home". If you miss a single class session your grade drops a whole letter, and it starts at 6:30 in the morning.

The thesis of Inf. Jest is basically the addictedness of all American society. From tennis academy jocks, to drug addicts, to recovering alcoholics in an AA halfway house, we're all addicted. Not to mention a rare porn film that is so addictive it kills you. A real mindf**k, man. I still recommend it though

  4. I have seen the movie about him and watched YouTube videos about his writing and life. He seems fascinating. I'll have to make the time to check it out.
