Hello all. I am an electrician apprentice, a civilian-soldier, and I respect young westernized men who don't masturbate or watch porn.

I have so far not watched porn for 4 days and not masturbated for about 2 days. I have tried this before but it has been much more simple this time around because I have gotten into praying like I never have before.

I am NOT religious. I totally support Interfaith initiatives. I know constant prayer works for me and when I slack then the urges come on strong and my life goes from meaningless to unmanageable.

Thank you all for reading this stuff and I would love to hook up with male prayer groups if there are any here. An interfaith prayer group would be for me a great joy.

    Welcome!

I'm not religious either but I am spiritual so I totally get it. I think their are many people on here who are also similar in their beliefs.

I have heard it said that changing habits is about altering behavior. I also have heard that it is about changing one's life and not simply the behavior at hand.

Here are a few things that I have started doing since partaking in the ultimate challenge which I believe have helped:

    1. Write on my journal, get a counter, and post/read others' posts on nofap several times per week.

    2. Become more open and honest with friends and family about my porn addiction.

    3. Have parental blocks on my electronic devices (for me this is but a short term solution but it has helped).

    4. Exercise 6 days a week 20 minutes. For me, I have been running Monday-Saturday and weight lifting intermittently at random.

    5. Eating healthy. I have been tracking my foods and trying to make my diet fit the USDA guidelines.

    6. I have decided to start drinking tea instead of coffee (I hope to start this tomorrow).

    7. I am also going to start taking cold showers - I hear that this is a truly masculine experience.

    8. I have become strict about meditating/praying every morning.

    9. I am checking my bank account every night and making a monthly budget to be better at personal finance.

Thank you for the suggestions eldish. That is a healthy list.

Sadly I have done the daily running and cold showers and on the same day still pmo'd.

My foot was getting bruised from running in boots so I had to lessen the days per week. I hate moderation while working out but my body just can't take the constant intensity without something getting injured. Though I still get hours and hours of mild cardio at work (construction lol).

Showers on the coldest setting really end boners.

But after that, if I allow myself to worry about stress from work, or even stress from family I get all "What's the point?" and just totally give in to the nonsensical habit (my brother is recently getting better but he really used to be totally insane and unemployed. Then my sister with her suicidal tendencies. Though she seems to be calming down some).

    Everyone has their struggles.

I thank the God I pray to for the ability to just pray and feel it'll all make sense one day though so little makes sense now.
