Hey everyone. I'm dogeatdog and I've decided to start NoFap. I've known about this site for a while and have been looking at the forums but haven't decided to create an account until now. I'm a male and I'm under 20 (won't specify because I'm uncomfortable with doing so).

I've been using porn and masturbation (p&m) for three years now and it has made me a less sociable, sex-craving person. I use p&m becaused I believed that it would keep my hornyness in check and for the simple fact that I got great pleasure from it. Because of the great pleasure I get from it, I have become less sociable because I don't pursue anyone romantically because sex, I believe, is one of the many reasons why you would date someone. Though I crave love and affection just like everyone else, removing one need for dating someone has made me lazy and non-attentive to the dating scene around me. Another reason as to why I want to stop is because recently I haven't felt the urge to use p&m as much as I did maybe a week ago. These are the reasons as to why I want to stop using p&m.

Now I'm going to write down my history with trying to quit p&m, you don't have to read this part but feel free to respond if you do or if you don't.
The longest I've gone without p&m is five days, I've done that twice. This Monday I tried to stop and only lasted until today, which is Wednesday for me. However, one thing that I did different this time that I didn't do the previous times was use that time that I dedicated to p&m to do other physically "tiring" activities such as working out. I read on a thread that you need to create a drastic change in your lifestyle in order to completely quit p&m. Is this true?

Also, please tell me if there's anything wrong with this post such as incorrect censorship or otherwise. I've read the terms and service and "Getting Started Guide" on how to post on the forums but I'm not too sure if anything I've said breaches those rules. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the forum. You made a good choice to stop. Develop a plan and write it down.

What I mean by plan is to understand what your triggers are, then determine what you would do differently to coup with your trigger. For example my triggers are lack of sleep, and stress. My plan is instead of going to porn sites when I can't sleep, I come here and read or write something. When I'm stressed, I workout. Also, part of my plan is to write something here every day, write a note to my wife, workout, and daily time with God. I do these things everyday, that way I remember why I'm do this. Our society may say PMO is ok, but I can tell you the impact it has and its not good. All the best.
