Is Art Work Porn? (Possible trigger)

  1. I mean something like William-Adolphe Bouguereau's Les Deux Baigneuses

Or Michelangelo's renaissance sculpture of David.

Is this porn? If porn was illegal should work like this be destroyed?

  2. Don't understood the question.why would you Destroy It If It isn't yours?
And If It is,why cant you put It somewhere you don't look at It then later sell It?

I consider porn to be anything meant to be sexually appealing or anything you personally might find to be. To me, this isn't porn because I don't get turned on by it (more so I analyze the art as a whole and attempt to find the artist's meaning).

However, it's definitely porn to some.

I would consider porn to be videos or images made specifically to arouse them and encourage fapping. I would consider this a painting.

  5. The question is: is paining or sculptures of nude people porn. The second question maybe is a bit confusing - I was just asking if you think porn should be illegal should art work (of naked people) be illegal as well.

Personally oppose making porn illegal so therefore I would be against it being destroyed.

I believe porn is perceived best by the individual observing, as porn is actually just a tool used as a catalyst to addiction. Whether we crave the dopamine or the feeling of approval, both of those are mainly what drive people to addiction in general.

That being said what would be seen as porn, or a trigger, would vary from person to person. One may enjoy dom stuff while another enjoys the latex, and another may dislike all of that and just enjoy anime. Conclusively if these three saw a portrait of a female in latex, not necessarily in a seductive pose, it would have subjective effects. The one obsessed with dom may make a connection, but it may not be as big a trigger when compared to the one obsessed with latex. The latter would be more likely to relapse than the former, while the one who watches anime would more than likely not be mentally affected by this portrait and avoid being triggered at all.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"- Margaret Wolfe Hungerford, in light of this if something is a trigger to you and not to a friend of yours, for the sake of abstaining, do what's best for you by removing that specific exploit and anything that reminds you of that trigger. A heroine addict will be more susceptible to relapsing if he quits only to do other hard drugs, rather than quitting all together.

No, this sounds very puritanical. Something like the Taliban would want to do. Consider that most art came from religion. This is why people are left scratching their heads today, in our post-religious age, wondering what art is.

You should take a humanities class. It's fascinating stuff that delves heavily into the history of art. I think that it would be an eye opener for you.

I do think some artists intentionally included nudity to arouse people, and I definitely think many people, in the age before porn, bought paintings just for the naked women.

Porn, just like all other drugs, should be legalized, made state monopoly, educated against warning everyone of its risks, along with rehab clinics being set up. This would lower the percentage of addicts, more people would seek help, drug cartels/porn industried would be rendered powerless and, specifically talking about substances, less people would die because they would get quality state stuff and would know how to use it properly, and also, people would call an ambulance faster when someone has an overdose. So no.

Porn is already legal in most countries. I agree there needs to be education about the addiction and it's effects. Porn sites also want minors to watch it early so they get hooked. Forcing them to charge people to access the site would make it a lot harder for minors.

I most certainly agree with this. There is art forms that use nudity, but in an aesthetically attractive and artistic way

It all depends on how you interpret it.

  14. Here's the definition of pornopraphy, according to Google:

    por·nog·ra·phy
    pôrˈnäɡrəfē/
    noun
    1. printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings.

I disagree that porn is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I believe it's in the eye of the creator. Now that doesn't mean that someone can't misuse an artist's work in a problematic way and get turned on by it, but that doesn't make the work, itself, porn. I think in order for something to be considered porn, it has to have been created with the intention of "stimulating erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings." Art is generally intended to stimulate emotion and aesthetics, not necessarily erotica. I think whether or not something is considered pornopgrahy should be determined by the creator's intentions. And also, it's worth noting that classifying something as "pornography," by this definition of having the intention of eliciting erotic feelings, doesn't necessarily make it wrong or bad. I don't think all art pieces, even if they ARE created with the intention of stimulating erotic feelings, are dangerous and destructive, like porn videos and erotic fiction, etc., are.

  15. That's the key! Countries that have legalized all drugs have been successful in ridding their country of a drug problem, because not only have they legalized them, but they've taken the money they would have been using to arrest and hold drug users and invested that money in HELPING rather than punishing.

Somewhat unrelated to the topic at hand, but I totally agree. That's the key to making legalizing harmful things beneficial.

Too bad it's not operated or controlled by the state, you don't get days off work when joining a reboot program and get ridiculed if you announce to people that you want to get clean from PMO. Other than that, I agree.

Blame mainstream media brainwashing for making them ridicule others who have PMO addictions
