Is cold turkey the best way to succeed at nofap? When it came to changing my bad eating habits, for example, I found cold turkey was not the best way to go. I found that if I broke up my eating over the course of a 5 month plan; I was gradually able to change without much effort. First the first month, all I did was focus on a healthy breakfast and could eat whatever I wanted the rest of the meals for the day. For the 2nd month, a healthy breakfast carried over, and I also had to have a healthy lunch as well, then month 3, breakfast and lunch carried over, and I also had to focus on a healthy dinner, etc.

But I under stand that nofap is different; I’ve tried gradual change before with nofap by allowing myself to jerk off, but I had to quit porn, and vice versa, and it never works. One seems to always lead back to the other until I’m back into a full on binge of 2-3 times a day of PMO.

So did I just answer my own question; cold turkey and just giving up everything all at once is the best way to go?

Yes I would say so once you get to like 17 days your brain will rewire and you don’t have the urge to watch til like day 30. From there it is way easier. So make it till the rewire and trust me it’s not great the rewire.

Cold turkey is the best method for any addiction in my opinion. I feel with porn and pmo addiction there is no way that you can "slowly" ween yourself off of it, looking at porn and pmo-ing even once a week is still doing damage to your brain.

What made me successful in rewiring my brain to real women and real sex and curing my PIED was cold turkey. Yes its incredibly difficult and you will deal with intense urges but you need to overcome this, I feel like I'm a broken record but be the boss of your mind, it will try all sorts of tricks to make you relapse but always be in control.

also, no edging or touching. The only time you should be touching yourself is to bathe and pee, that coupled with sheer will to not look at any visuals online is the true recipe for success. Its easier said than done though. You can do it man. Believe.

I've started a few days ago going full cold turkey. All bookmarks, logins, saved files, etc. All gone. I'm still thinking about it in quieter moments but so far no physical urges.
I'm distracting myself from it with excercise or online games with friends. Pretty tough though as I'm still off work for another month and a half thanks to Covid.

If you are a type of person who binges after every long streak then it is best to quit gradually. Focus on reducing the binges, then stopping visuals and M. make intervals. Cold turkey with binging is not the right way in my opinion.

As painful as it is cold turkey is the only way. It takes a few months for dopamine to become regulated again. It’s hard but doable. It beats the alternative.

My P addiction was cold turkey and M over 3 years of battle. I guess you have to do whatever you can. If minimizing the amount first helps, do that. If you can stop completely in one-stop, why not.

The withdrawal sympthoms. I was strongly suicidal for the first 200 days, and i was feeling like shit, i had all kind of withdrawals,i don't even remember them all, starting from teeth pain, to leg pain etc.
I came out of that destroyed, and started to build myself up again little by little, i think that was the only way for me.
