Is cyber sex with a real person, porn?

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by JohnnyTheFox, Mar 27, 2014.

  1. Does cyber sex with a real person count as porn? I ask this question for clarification. The reason is that some on this site do not reset their counter if they have sex with a real person rather than some anonymous porn actor. It could be argued that cyber sex with a real person does or does not require a reset. What do you think?

That's an very interesting question, and this is my take on it....

Cyber sex still involves masturbation, self stimulation (not to mention the death grip effect is still present) Although there may be an interaction with another real person it is still nothing more than a collection of pixels on a screen, no reality. The original point of Nofap is to abstain from everything that is merely a superficial substitute for a real life sexual encounter with another human being, the thing our organs were designed for.

I have never done cyber sex but if I did I would reset. My personal goal is to re-configure my sex drive so that real life encounters are the only thing that get me off, I want to see my wife for who she is instead of projecting a fantasy onto her, I want her to be the only one that can get me off :)

peace to you, all the best

  3. Thanks Soul Cage, that is an interesting take on it. Just to clarify though, I am not talking about pixels. I am just referring to a conversation in which each person in turn describes what is happening and being said.

  6. That's right no video link. In fact, not a chat room either. This is with someone you already know over the internet. That is why I think it may be considered OK. What if you considered that person to be your boyfriend (not a stranger).

I think it depends on who it is with.
If it's with someone you just met in a chat room, it's porn. It has porn related behaviors. Multiple tabs for multiple chat rooms. Endless browsing for the girl willing to cyber with you.

If it's with a significant other and the two of you are incapable is seeing each other due to distance, I would think it's fine.
For example, if a wife or husband is away for work weeks at a time. This will lead to no time wasted (unlike when you search for porn or a chatroom) and developing your intimacy with that person.

I agree with what giggleschmack said. Admittedly people each have their own reasons for abstinence/recovery and different goals for it that require a different set of customised rules and restrictions that you impose on yourself. So what could require a reset in one person's situation may not count for another. I guess it just depends how hardcore you want to be about the whole thing, lol :D

I understant all the Point of view's but isn't this too much virtual, will it be good for the brain? I don't think so, we have to manage the cravings by decreasing them or killing them through sport.
