Is edging and precum a relapse?

So It's been a rough eight days for me. Tonight I edged and felt the rise of ejaculation and stopped. A little of what I am guessing is precum came out.

Did I relapse? Should I reset my counter?

It’s not a relapse. It’s what’s called a reset. Your counter says “No porn/masterbation” and even though you didn’t ejaculate, you masterbated. I think you should reset your counter as a way of being accountable.

Also it's tempting fate and making it harder to resist next time. It sounds like stress is a trigger for you so learning how to deal with that without resorting to M etc. is going to be important.

Don't do edging and try not to precum. I know we get our days...but try to avoid it. Its not relapsing, but it's wise not to go that route in the first place.

For me yes because I cannot just edge a little it turns into an obscene amount of hours bingeing like dropping a dam gate in a raging river it will flood me I simply cannot moderate it so if I said well I didn't relapse it was just a little edging and precum I am lying to myself because if I keep it up there will be a full blown relapse before I know what hit me

Edging is worse than ejaculating. Why do some guys think losing some spunk is more damaging than dopamine constantly rising in the brain?

Like it's as if they think if they edge for a while and dopamine keeps rising in the brain, likely to abnormally high levels, but if they can stop them self from ejaculating and keep their spunk inside them then this is ok? Like losing spunk is the most damaging part, more damaging than constantly raising dopamine?

It's as if some guys think this.

I think "edging is worse than ejaculating" is too broad of a statement and in some ways implies that once you start M'ing then you're better off going all the way than stopping. Clearly if you have a guy edging for hours and then stopping before O, that's worse than someone who PMO'd after 10 minutes and moved on with his day but I know from personal experience that I'd definitely feel worse nutting after 10 minutes than edging for 20 minutes and stopping. I don't know where that crossover point is exactly but still, if you can refrain from ejaculating you're still limiting the damage to some degree. I don't think you can dismiss the O part as just some spunk, the edging is like the lava in a volcano building and the O is the eruption. Also, from a perhaps holistic viewpoint, semen has the power to create life so I do think there must be some good to keeping that inside of you.

As for the question, yes I consider edging a relapse but I guess it depends what your goals are.

Yes I think edging and then ejaculating is worse than just edging on it's own. But I still think edging is far worse than ejaculating. I think ejaculating too frequently is a problem in it's self to though.

Many guys have a healthy sex life. Many guys masturbate in moderation, little to no edging, they ejaculate fairly frequently. It doesn't affect their life negatively at all. But they're still ejaculating frequently, every day or ever other day. So why is their life not being negatively affected? Because they're not continuously raising dopamine in the brain all the time.

Masturbating, edging to all the unlimited pornography and artificial sexual stimulation on the internet can raise dopamine beyond anything we have ever seen before.

But the edging raises the dopamine much more than the ejaculating. This doesn't mean I think guys should ejaculate as much as they want. Of course ejaculating too frequently isn't healthy. But edging is still far worse than ejaculation in my opinion.

It really depends on your goals. When I had my first go at this, I said no porn at all but I gave myself permission to edge while I was in bed (not to porn). That lasted almost 2 months. Was it perfect? No way but it was a huge jump from where I was before that. That gave me the courage to start a new goal which is strictly no PMO, this time no edging. Just over a week and I can tell you the challenge is a lot harder- which to me proves there's a lot to edging and probably a lot to its overall hindrance to a reboot.

The bottom line is you're never truly back to Day 0, even if you choose to reset your counter.

Edging may be worst than finishing in my opinion, because it leaves you wanting to finish it some time later, it also serves as an excuse in your mind to keep donig it because it wasnt the whole thing; there is also the factor that edging causes in your brain the constant stimulation of the reward system without spending the costly resource of your fluids.

It's all good man, imo unless you bust you haven't relapsed, stay on the journey and don't worry about technicalities.

You'll never quit if you beat yourself up for not being perfect, it's impossible, celebrate the fact you encountered the tiger and came out alive still.

Only reset your counter if you ejaculate and I'm not talking about wet dreams/nocturnal emissions either.
