So I was wondering if mastubation is healthy and porn is the bad thing. Or is mastubation also bad?

Porn is worse. Masturbation exccevily is as bad as porn .Masturbation in moderation is just a waste of energy and time without any benefits .

No..it won't work. This will lead you to pmo. I suggest you do hard mode. No PMO.

If that works to keep you off porn. Then you should do it

Masterbation in excess can be bothersome if you find yourself in extreme situations.

Some people (myself included) don't need much porn to get "inspired". I guess the mind is powerful and provides all the scenarios and imagery it needs.

The important thing first: Porn should be your #1 enemy in this battle. Porn is the thing, that messes with your brain and makes your life worse.

That being said, let's take a look at masturbation: Masturbation to porn is equally bad, obviously. Masturbation to PSubs (Instagram, sexy Youtube videos, sexy ads, erotic stories, erotic audio, [porn-inspired] fantasies, etc.) is not much better, so it must be avoided as well.

But what about masturbation to pure sensation: Views on this are controversial, as your poll indicates. Some argue masturbation is shameful, some argue it doesn't bring anything good (see above), but some also argue it's relieves stress and sexual tension. I argue for the last-mentioned. Masturbation is a normal activity, i.d. it's not shameful. It can be a healthy mechanism to relieve built-up stress and sexual tension, obviously. Anybody of you, who has ever masturbated, probably experienced it.

However, you need to consider some things before you allow yourself to masturbate:

    1. Do you have a partner? If so, it would be preferable to let the stress and sexual tension go with him/her. Bonding with someone is better than doing it yourself.

    2. Why do you wanna do it? If you use it to cope with negative emotion like sadness for example, you should avoid it. You are more vulnurable in these states, which will make a porn-relapse more likely.

    3. Can you masturbate to pure sensation? No porn, no PSubs, no fantasies (the fantasy part on its own is somewhat controversial: some say fantasy should be avoided alltogether, while some say "natural" fantasies are okay. Everybody agrees however, that porn-inspired fantasies are not acceptable). Just masturbate from touch alone. At first, it might not work. If it doesn't, don't force it and don't use porn in order to make it happen! Just give yourself time and try it another time.

    4. Can you manage a potential chaser effect? If you orgasm, it's common to experience a strong urge to do it again. Can you withstand? You shouldn't unload your entire magazine in one sitting, if you know what I mean.

    5. Can you keep the numbers low? You shouldn't masturbate so often. Once, maybe twice a week, should be fine, but if you have to do it more often, it can still be problematic.

So, we see, that masturbation can't be seen black and white. It can be helpful, but it can also lead to destruction. You have to try it out in order to see, if you benefit from it. I would suggest to try it out for 2-3 weeks and see what happens. If it makes it easier for you to stay away from porn, then that's good. If not, then cut it out as well. Generally, it's better to try things than to listen to other people. We're not all the same, so black/white statements are sometimes problematic.

As a side note: People on the NoFap forums are on average somewhat critical of masturbation. If you need a community, which is a little more open to the concept of masturbation, you could join reddit.com/r/pornfree.
