I've recently started masturbating without porn.

I try my best not to visuallize etc its just sometimes when its up I clinically "drain the hose" as it were.

im past the stage of being horny all day every day but sometimes the hormones or whatever build up so much (typically every 3days) and I do the deed.

I wont lie im tempted to watch porn. But I haven't yet, and am confident that even If I do make a mistake (not that I intend to or am sabotaging myself) its not the end of the world.. I can just jump back on the horse.

so. Can anybody help? Am I going about this wrong? Would I get more out of my sexual reboot if I stopped altogheter? Is there a problem with masturbating as a whole?

    Thanks guys in advance

    Hey

I'm with you. Read my journal and/or some of the posts that I've set. I am two weeks in on this site. I've spent a lot of time here, probably too much, trying to figure things out for myself.
My opinion is that porn is the problem. MO can be too, but I personally think that MO is fairly natural and easier (more realistic) to modulate. Porn, not so much. My advice is quit all porn and sexually stimulating material by any means possible. Be as draconian as need be. When you are away from porn, then decide what the right thing to do with your own penis is for you.

Do a experiment...try to avoid fapping for 20days. When you reach that goal...come back and tell me/us are you are feeling.

Trust me after all the benefits you see/gain...you will never want to fap again!

I agree with vlaw. Try it.
Your seed is precious. Your body goes through a lot of hard work to produce it.
You don't need masturbation for your survival. Its almost a fucking dependency that is unwanted.
This website is called nofap for a reason .
Its great that you've stopped watching porn but try this. It ll be tough but ultimately rewarding.

He should go at least 200 days and then he can report the benefits.

OnT: Yes masturbation is a huge problem. It's not good for you. Don't believe what the perverted western media tells you.

Hey I'm like you I MO without porn now and I feel more balanced. When I go on total hard mode, my hormones actually increase the likelihood of me watching porn. Getting that sexual release makes it easier for me to stop viewing porn. Perhaps I'll stop MO-ing in the future but this is not likely (until I get a gf). Humans are sexual creatures, and as young men it is natural for our sex drive to be high. Those who are against MO are as if against our sexuality or would encourage casual sex. Vlaw for instance abstains from PMO but seeks prostitutes for sex. Different people have different needs. Consider the possibility that some of the fapstronauts here may have lower sex drives and thus don't require MO as they are older (?).
    Yup.

I have censored myself because I know no other way to express myself in this forum. However, I don't believe we know all the answers, either individually or as a group. I think it would be arrogant to believe that one way fits all and that there is only one way.

Perhaps the name NoFap is what limits us. We assume it is all about not fapping. We assume that fapping is the problem. We assume that not fapping is the cure. We are limited by what help we can offer people because our forum, by its very title dictates only a single vision.

For me the important thing is finding a solution to Porn addiction. I am only here to help people with that addiction, by offering advice and preserving a friendly and safe environment to express and to learn.

IGY, your point is taken. Although I believe you grossly misrepresent me. And I personally believe your attitude inhibits those trying to find alternative effective ways of helping those who became addicted early age.

But to be very, VERY clear - I am not advocating fapping.

This question is asked almost bi-weekly. In the end only YOU can decide. I advise against it for a lot of reasons, many of them personal. I just think it's more of a challenge, more BA to do the full no PMO to be honest

Hey man, I'm with the consensus that you should try no MO and see how you feel. I have seen studies that when you MO you release large amounts of dopamine into your brain numbing the effects other dopamine related activities (such as meeting with friends, doing well in school and in the workplace, ect) I'd recommend checking out this Ted talks video: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wSF82AwSDiU
