By setting a goal on how many days your not gonna touch your dick that only reminds you that you've this problem every single day. I'd imagine this creates a shitload of tension which eventually leads to relapse. Your only holding it in but just like piss you cannot hold in piss forever. Eventually you would relapse, you would feel like crap, you would blame it on your willpower & you would then wonder why your such a loser again! -Repeat the cycle - Sounds familiar?

    Just my 2 cents.

  2. Different things work for different people. I have read that the counter works great for them. I just had marks for 45 and 90 days on a calendar so I would know about where I was.

This approach never seems to work for me. Not sure why but maybe my pmo issues are more serious and my discipline is non-existent so something that only reminds me that I have this problem only creates anxiety that leads to relapse. I find it is better to just not think about it whatsoever. See nofap as something already normal in your life, not something that is yet to conqueror.

Your opinion you can argue the reverse. Its easy to just fuck your hand to a screen whenever you want. Or you man up do whats difficult which is what men do and face something that majority of people are slaves to.
Theres a reason why its difficult yes is there tension yes but whenever was anything worthwhile easy?

I agree. If you think of NoFap as a x-day challenge, you'll fail again, again and again. If you take NoFap as a lifestyle change, you'll eventually succeed breaking free. Slips and relapses are part of recovery. I have yet to meet a person with addiction who succeeded in first attempt.

Obviously a few months in you won't be counting your days, you'll be forgetting about NoFap and living your life. But for those initial "hell" weeks of quitting PMO, the day counter is one of the best tools.

Agreed short medium long term.goals are important to gain confidence and to have a plan

  9. In addition, long term goals work for me in order to get stronger, to get closer to being completely free.

Hey guys, a couple of days ago I voted yes to a 7-day challenge and... well today (day 4) I lost to PMO. This also happened to me last time I tried. My best ever was only 5 days. Why is this so hard? Why can’t I get past a small handful of days? Do you guys have any tips? I’ve searched all over the internet but nothing has worked for me

The reason why its so tough is that if you are a PA, the levels of Delta fos B increase over time. It causes a binge factor. What ive noticed in my journey of the past month is that the toughest for me was getting past 7 days but it became much easier to say no after that hurdle most likely due to such levels of delta fos B decreasing. Try identifying your triggers, whats the root cause of your P use, what makes it more difficult to abstain, what helps you abstain? understadning this helps you put yourself in situations where its easier to fight the battle.

For me my number 1 priority is sleep. I havent had consistently good sleep in the past couple of months and ive noticed that I use P as stress relief and while I can say no, if I go a day with bad sleep, then my ability to control my urges decrease.

I’m sorry, I’m new to this, what is PA and delta fos b?(sorry for my inexpertise)

  13. The counter actually forces me to try harder, and remember my commitment to not relapsing.

It does help me. It’s weird; it both makes me feel good and incomplete, like “wow 7 days” and also “fuck, will I really give in after only 7 days?”

I agree with what you said about sleep, I will try it. But you’re saying that after about seven days, saying no becomes easy?
