Is porn addiction real??

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Jul 28, 2017.

  1. In my research that I've been doing of subjects related to NoFap I came across a sort of on going debate of weather, porn addiction is real or not.

On one side you got people like us who have/are addicted and tell our side of it being dependent and obsessive

On the other side is showing that there is a lack of evidence to show that it isn't exactly an addiction.

What do you guys think about this?

The American Society for Addictive medicine talks about about both chemical and behavioral addictions.

The other side cites the DSM-V, which does not currently support problem behaviors as much at this time.

I tend to agree with ASAM. the DSM has a tendancy to get political from time to time. Additionally, I would argue that just because a disease is not documented somewhere, that does not assert that it does not exist.

  3. I read through some of these just briefly and there is a part where they say that it affects the reward system in your brain and in my opinion that is where one of the main problems come from in porn addiction. It's the same as how drugs can be addictive but just because it's something viewed instead of putting something in your body it doesn't make it an addiction? This whole thing is very complicated

The ASAM is arguing it can be.

My experience tells me that it is a very strong psychological and physiological addiction. No doubt about it!
Try and quit PMO behaviors and you will learn how addictive it really is.

I've been addicted to transwoman porn for 11 years.. I watched it from a prank from ex girl.. could feel myself getting an awkward boner... next thing you know I bought a 4 hour porn dvd.. I tried synthetic meth and actual meth and it increases it tenfold... it transitioned into gay porn.. I get so high that I ended up watching 50 minutes of raw ass fucking that ended in double penetration... when sober I don't think of that at all... when high I try to live it.

  9. Hey man it's hard to tell what's right when you are exposed to many different view points. I'm doing my best to understand all sides. So far I do think porn addiction is real but I'm just asking your opinion.

It's definitely an addiction no doubt. The same powerful chemicals are released when a person is addicted to porn and when a person is addicted to cocaine.
