The devil whispers bad thoughts in your ears, tries to temp and corrupts you. Could this be a depiction of what going through a nofap period feels like ?

Could there be a connection between going through relapses, trying to quit an addiction, and the devil/antagonists in christian religion ? It seems temptation in the bible could very well describe what the reality of quitting porn is like.

  2. The name Satan means Adversary,

We all have the Adversary in ourselves (egocentricity). The bible says that Satan rules the World. Indeed Egocentricity rules the world. But can we say it's external?

Christ has also said: "There is NOTHING outside a man, that going inside a man, can corrupt him".

just like the porn addiction is not porn's fault. we have to look inside and work on ourselves. not blame society or satan.

  3. Demons are real. And so is God. Lots of material on Youtube on "deliverance from demons in Jesus name". It is up to you to make the decision whether you believe it or not. God bless you.

  4. YouTube in general is a terrible source. Any person with a Bible can make what they want out of it. I don't think it's good for anyone to just blindly listen to the enormous assortment of youtube videos on these matters; especially if their mind is somehow fragile and they are paranoid and fearful people. I've seen alot of good people go crazy because of this. I don't believe God wants us to go crazy over obscure bible verses. Like John says in the NT: "God is Light in which there is No Darkness". No Darkness whatsoever.

Each individual needs to take responsibility for their actions.

It's so easy to blame something or someone else.

There's no need to bring god and the devil into this.

The temptation is made by humans. The choice in the face of those temptations is also made by humans.

  6. I've often found in these instances that people love to dispute sources. Nothing is ever really good enough. Even if people see it before their very eyes... as then and now... some will never believe. The choice remains with the individual.

  7. Sources are important. Again, you can't compare a youtube video to witnessing a demon with your very eyes; and also you can't compare a youtube video as a source for the words of Jesus to the New Testament or other bona fide Christian Writings. But whatever ;)

  8. The Bible speak about all temptations including porn. Yes The Bible is written a very long time ago, but it's written in a way so it can be used at any time even if times changed.
I find it extremely helpfull to have Jesus by my side during NoFap, and nobody in here needs to tell me that there are no reason for me to have Jesus in my life. Expecially if it helps me trough my NF-struggles.

    God bless!

I've seen many things this way, as well. Some things are only for each individual to decide. I'm convinced of several matters of faith from personal experiences.. that's all I need. Others have their own journey :)

  11. Western culture has tought us that change comes from an outside source....the eastern world belives change has to come from within... I'm going with the eastern philosophy on this one. He is able who thinks he is able." ~ Buddha
We can continue to sin and pray all we want, round and round. We don't go anywhere. Change has to come from within. Sermon on the mount is a good book that explains the only way to have a good connection with God is to control and rid our brains of all nagitive thoughts.

    We
We pray because we believe, that is the key. If someone wants to pray thru this particular struggle and they believe it wil cure them then it will happen . That my friends is how powerful faith can be.

  13. Faith is believing in yourself also. Can't believe in Christ and reep the benefits of prayer with out believing you can do something. That type of dogma keeps people in poverty, relying on God for everything.
We are like God's fingers. Faith with out works is dead.

  14. Well it's one explanation but not the only explanation. It's true that a certain part of scripture teaches us something that would later be confirmed by neuroscientist (although their wording and scriptures wording is very different but the over all instructions are the same). But at the end of the you don't need to read the Bible to do NoFap or have any sort of faith. There's a number of science book that can help and in fact they probably explain temptation and how to overcome it better.

BTW this thread is coming very close to breaking the rules. I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually get moved to one of the groups.

Hey Mike, I know you got a lot of responses (not all helpful) but I hope this helps. The devils business is sin and trying to get people to sin like in the beginning (adam and eve). In first peter we are also told to be watchful minded, the devil prowls around like a lion, waiting for its next victim. Satan has a lot to do with temptation (he even tried to tempt Jesus at a desperate time), but its also in ourselves... we have to choose what we really want. We can give into that temptation like satan wants and become a victim, or we can choose to walk in the light as He is in the light. Hope that helps.

I live in Israel and I am a Jewish 15 years old male guy. I believe in God and one of the reasons I stopped masturbating is because God doesn't allow us to masturbate. Why? Think about it. When you masturbate, You kill your kids and throw them to the garbage. Every time you masturbate, another millions of souls are dead. About the devil, We are the Jewish people, Say that the devil is "whispering" us bad things to do and we usually listen to him, Just like when we masturbate. But God told us never listen to the devil and it is a rule from the Bible. If anyone got questions, I would be happy to answer.

  17. Lol I've thought about this analogy before. I don't know it's viewed just as bad as killing a bunch of kids but defiantly I believe should be saved for bonding of 2 people in marriage. There's a story from ancient eastern China about a women who lived at the palace, who stole mens power threw sex. She would walk around glowing with energy well all the men lay around worn out from wasting there 'energy'. The following is part of an article I came across from,
    EXCERPTS FROM TAOIST SEX SECRETS
"Taoist sexology provides people with methods for remaining healthy and for enjoying the greatest pleasures of sexual intercourse. It explains, for example, that every man is born with a predetermined physical capacity for producing semen, the source of male vitality, and that his body cannot produce an endless amount of semen, regardless of how sexually active he is. Some men are able to produce gallons of semen in their lifetime but others produce much less.

After a man's ability to produce semen is exhausted due to old age or excessive sexual activity, his kidneys and liver become weak, his bone marrow shrivels, and he dies. Thus, if a man expends his sexual vitality prematurely, he will become impotent at an early age or fall sick, a fate that often befalls womanizers.

The essence of Taoist sexology is therefore simple: the more semen a man spends, the less Chi energy he will have left to protect his general health.

  18. Lao Tzu the creator or Taoism, was just a man...a wise philosopher. He didn't claim to be a God or profit. He died around 530 years before Jesus was born. Jesus abolished karma and probably anything to do with an advanced death from too much sex from multiple partners...but that dosent go to say Lao Tzo' s teachings where all false...i.e. "become impotent at an early age or fall sick, a fate that often befalls womanizers." All sins are forgivin in jesus name so this obviously dose not need to happen. The Bible also warns about sexual immortality Corinthians 6:18, which says, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.” The bodies of believers are the “temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20).

Taoism goes into a bit more detail on energy we actully expel everytime we bust a nut. Lao Tzo does have a valid point. Can't deny the fact of how tierd you feel afterwards. Just because no one told u in western culture or it's not written in the bible, doesn't mean that it's not true or should be considered "syncretism".

I remember something about Jesus telling you to cut your hands, if they tempt you. If the little devil in you can turn that into "masturbation is okay" well yeah good riddance. Also tearing the eyes out, how can it be said more explicitly?
