Is this flatline

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by fapachino, Feb 22, 2015.

  1. Been feeling really anxious over the last week. Just wondering if this is a flatline? I had a couple of weeks where I felt great but now I feel terrible. Anxious, sweating, trouble sleeping through to the night (falling asleep ok), tired, sore head, brain fog. Just wondering if anyone else has had this and if so how long till it passes?

    Hi fapachino,

It sounds like a lot of very common withdrawal symptoms. Many early stage rebooters report anxiety, trouble sleeping, tiredness, headaches, and brain fog while the neurochemicals try to rebalance themselves.

With regards to flatline, it's possible you're currently in one. But my definition of a flatline really doesn't have anything to do with any of the symptoms you're describing. A flatline is exclusively a way to describe current libido (or the lack thereof rather).

Many times a reboot is a non-linear process and you should therefore not get discouraged if you don't feel like you're getting anywhere abstaining.

  3. I had all these things at the start then they went away for a couple of weeks. Just want to feel better

  4. Yea. Altho what you describe is a mix of withdraw symptoms and flatline. But you might definitely be in one right now.
Just keep going. Its your body going through the changes and adapting to them.

  5. Thing is, I'm over 40 days in. Would you still get withdrawals? It is like what I had at the start.

Were you exposed to pornography recently? I can only refer back to my previous post in this thread. Rebooting is a non-linear process and therefore jumping in and out of a flatline (or any other withdrawal symptom) should be expected to some extent.

Does the reboot process get interrupted if you happen to see a pornographic image unexpectedly? At work I saw an image of a naked woman and looked at it briefly... and then I wasn't sure if I should reset my counter or not. I haven't hit a flatline yet so I was worried that something may not be right.

In this case you weren't intentionally exposing yourself to pornography so therefore I wouldn't reset. I would however say that this could turn into a slippery slope rather quickly. Usually if you end up looking at something you shouldn't, your neurons start to fire like crazy and you might feel this the next few days. It is very important that you don't expose yourself to any pornography related material. And if you do you must close it immediately/look away.

Thanks, crushurcravings. I'm doing my absolute best not to look at porn intentionally. Is it okay to look at a woman in real life though?

    lol

Yes, in fact you have to develop a resistance to those kind of unavoidable triggers. You can't really avoid seeing half-naked women.

  11. No but I've had a bit of intimacy with my wife and thought about it a few times when I was on my own but didn't fap or anything. Not sure if this would bugger things up.
