Hey there. I've been circling this forum for a couple of weeks now, during which time I have had 3/4 very halfhearted attempts to start a reboot. But the one thing I did clarify is that getting actively involved in this forum and joining this community is the one way I'm going to sort this shit out.

I'm 22 now and have been completely engulfed in the porn world since I first became sexually active and haven't really known a time when it wasn't a part of my sex-life. I've probably been viewing porn for about 7/8 years and the longest time I've gone without it since I started is about a fortnight. If I count the recent cluster I mentioned earlier I think I've had 3 attempts to change something, all of which have been within the last 18 months. I'm pretty sure I attempted all of them so that I would be able to sexually perform adequately for someone I was 90%+ sure I would have sexual contact with, 2 of the 3 times were with someone I was in a relationship with at the time.

I'm 100% sure that my addiction was the cause of that relationship breaking down.

But I want to get better. I don't want this to plague my existence. I understand that we all have different views on this concept but I am really starting to hold some serious contempt for this addiction and I want to completely exterminate it from my life.

I want to have a normal sex life where I don't have to worry if she'll mind that i don't climax. Or that I may not stay hard with a condom on.

As someone who is also an aspiring writer, I think the personal journal on here could really help me and I'd love to get involved in discussions about all this.

I've finally come to realise that I can't get over this on my own.

  2. Hey @Waggo29 ,

I'm just a normal ordinary member. No moderator super powers and no special insite. I share my ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope) of what works for me.

Just another warm welcome and a heart felt hello. This community has helped me so much.

What worked for me was "working" it. It took hard work for me to complete a hard reboot (No pmo) for 120 days, then move into a Sex Positive mode.

First, reading the literature published by NoFap itself along with reading journals.

Then, doing the work. Writing in my journal and replying to introductions and other's journals.

Finally, but not least, getting involved with the fellowship. I found it on the forums, but also in people's profiles. The forums tend to be longer posts, where the profiles tend to be more "conversational".

That is what has worked for me. I like to remind myself that this community was here waiting for me with the lights on when I arrived. Now, I have to do my best to be there when someone comes to the community.

    PS:

One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals. Reading other's stories with their victories and even defeats is a big part of my program.

I've included journals from all age groups, spiritual members, religious members, secular members, male and female. You should find journals that help. If not, look around, there are hundreds of others from which to choose. When I say "it works if you work it", reading journals is part of that work.

Once you open a journal, click "Watch Thread" in the upper right of the page to get alerts when new posts are made. Here are just a few:
