It's Getting Better All The Time (with Urge Surfing)

    Anyway, the mindful meditation thing is working tremendously. That along with urge surfing. I saw the idea here. Googled it and it has been great. Basically whenever you have an urge, you focus on your breath and passively without judgment notice your other symptoms (maybe heart rate higher, sweaty palms, etc.) then just go back to focusing on breath. For me, I will focus on my breath at other times when I'm not feeling the urge and I think that helps me be prepared in mind and body when an urge does arrive.

    Funny that you post it, because yesterday I had an urge that I beat by "meditating" (I don't know if it's real meditation) pretty much exactly in the way you described, by focusing on the breathing and clearing my mind of other thoughts. So I can confirm that it does work and I encourage everyone to try it at least once, it might work for you, too :) .
