It's ok to be a virgin

  1. Good boy! Lol just remember that it's best for both of you.

I know I've always had a hard time being blunt because I don't want to hurt people's feelings, but once I realized it was actually better for them if I was honest and direct, regardless of how upset they might be at the moment, it made things easier.

Dude. Props to you for turning her down. Don't worry, I'm 25 and still a virgin and I have felt the same way as you. I think back to when I was your age and if some girl would have told me that when I was that age, I probably would have cashed in on that birthday present. For me personally, I want to wait until it feels right to lose my virginity. I want to make sure we are both in love before I have sex and not let it be from some one night stand.

Excuse me, what does that mean - Props to you? Is it part of the new-speak we all have to learn? o_O

It's another way of saying good job. I guess I have heard a lot of my friends and coworkers using lately that I've started using it myself lol.

So I really didn't know and I just looked it up on google and it is an actual word. Who knew. Here is a link to the definition. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/props

  7. I'm really glad there are other like minded people out there. I'm the only dude I know who believes in waiting and has actually followed through on that belief. Good for you for turning her down @Lazarus Shuttlesworth

  8. I'm not even gonna front, like a year before that situation I was contemplating on visiting an escort (friend's suggestion) and thankfully I didn't.. Life's weird. But by Gods grace I know am starting to realize that sex is a gift from God to married couples.

  9. Man, that must be really tough to be alone in that. It was tough for me even with all the support I've had and religious friends who believe the same things. "Props to you" for staying true to who you are and not letting society dictate your morals.

  10. Thanks @TakingTheSteps! It's not super lonely, my family supports my efforts to wait until marriage. It's like what my pastor says, @Lazarus Shuttlesworth. Sex is like fire. It's a great gift, useful, and enjoyable, so long as it is kept within the safe boundaries of a campfire or fireplace. Outside of that, it is destructive to both yourself and everyone around it. Sex is great, but only between a married man and woman. Sex outside of those boundaries will leave you emotionally broken and feeling hollow inside now matter how good it may feel in the moment.

Sex whether a short fling or a lasting relationship is better when you have personal power. I didn't know this when I was a virgin. I felt horrible about myself and hated myself. When I lost my virginity it was terrible and underwhelming because I didn't really like the girl (nothing personal) and I had no personal power. I felt like no girl would want me.

If you feel like nobody wants you I suggest to go deeper and do meditation, therapy, reading, and whatever you have to do to make your life better. You have sex for a few minutes or few hours at a time and then you're done... you live with yourself 24 hours a day every day. Figure out what you like and what makes you happy. I suggest "The School of Life" Videos on Youtube to help broaden your horizons about life and meaning. They offer a lot of depth and breadth to life philosophy and are non preachy. They are a starting point not everything that you need to know.
