Just read an article which says you should ejaculate every two weeks?

So I was reading through another post where a user mentioned this website:

    http://www.healthystrokes.com/

The website talks about the dangers of prone masturbation, although I happened to notice a paragraph which caught my attention. Here's the quote (the bold text wasn't put in by me):

"Let's take a step back from masturbation and talk about ejaculation. It's necessary for males past puberty to ejaculate. The male sexual organs produce a number of fluids that have to be eliminated periodically. Doctors specializing in sexuality generally agree that a male must ejaculate (at a bare minimum) once every two weeks to avoid damage to his sexual functioning. However, more than 98% of males under the age of 60 ejaculate much more often than this. A team of doctors led by Dr. Graham Giles published a study in 2003 that found that males who ejaculated most often when they were young had the least incidence of prostate cancer later. They state that masturbation is healthier for the prostate than having intercourse, because masturbation doesn't expose the prostate to STDs. Dr. Giles recommends that younger males masturbate at least six times a week.

So ejaculation is necessary. If a male doesn't ejaculate by having intercourse (or wet dreams, which are uncommon in boys who have learned how to masturbate) -- then masturbation is necessary. So as a practical matter, yes, it's necessary for males to masturbate. Very few males claim to never masturbate, and some authorities say there are no males past puberty who never masturbate. "

Now of course this is just some text from a single website, so I can't confirm its validity. However, from what I've read on the website the author seems pretty knowledgeable, which is why the comment about needing to masturbate every two weeks concerns me. Is it safe to be going such periods without masturbation during NoFap, especially for guys who don't have regular intercourse available?

I know about that statements and I guess they are right. You shouldn't leave your milk to long in the fridge too.

But we are trying to get over our addiction. I think it's ok to nofap for about 90 days but you may get used to a normal way of masturbation.

There are some males who do not masturbate, just a small number. I would say that porn is the major problem here, more so than masturbation.

Do you happen to have a citation for that?

No need to act in such a negative manner towards someone else.

You DON'T HAVE to ejaculate. If we need to "remove" those fluids, our body will do so by wet dreams. For us who are here, we can see why masturbation is far from a good idea. Though I do agree that porn is the real issue, it is undeniable that fapping has a significant contribution to our addiction. It is ridiculous to say that people must ejaculate. There is nothing wrong with ejaculation but it is not a prerequisite. I believe that masturbation is fine only in a sexual intercourse with another partner and with absolutely no use of porn material whatsoever. Alone it should not even be considered. otherwise this site would not even be named : NOFAP.

I also have to say this. By posting this article on a site made to help people overcome their pmo addiction, you are giving to many the excuse to relapse. We all know the downside of excessive masturbation. Though once a while may be fine, almost none of us have the ability to abstain for once every two weeks. This habit will turn from a bi weekly basis to a regular relapse in no time.

What amazes me is that there was 1 (ONE) study done with no details with the questions of males, their frequency of ejaculation (it did not specify masturbation of intercourse) and cancer correlation. I pretty much discount this study as being invalid due to no other studies (if anyone has found one please share) and the lack of detail.

The body is self maintaining, as others have said, it will dispose of anything that it needs to by wet dreams, etc.

The STD bullshit always cracks me up, if you are worried about STDs then wear protection or better yet, get in a monogamous relationship!

Contrary to folk mythology, prostate cancer is simply not known to be improved by frequent organisms. The best studies have found no evidence of a correlation. Here are some actual facts.
    • Some early studies like Giles et al (2003) suggested the correlation that everyone parrots, but was found the next year (including by the study below) to be unsubstantial: they were limited entirely to a few biased case-control studies.
    • A much more sophisticated study by Leitzmann et al (2004) of over 200,000 people found that: "[o]ur results suggest that ejaculation frequency is not related to increased risk of prostate cancer". They reported that very high frequency ejaculators tend to have slightly lower rates of prostate cancer in their family history. However, because it's a matter of family history, this suggests that if any thing the causal arrow is reversed: lower rates of prostate cancer lead to higher frequency ejaculation, rather than vice versa.
    • Prostate cancer is known to be driven by the presence of Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA). The presence of PSA was found by Herschman, Smith and Catalona (1997) to actually be significantly increased immediately after ejaculation, and it remains at an increased level for at least 24 hours.
On the other hand, a great deal of the anecdotal evidence you find on NoFap forums has very strong evidence in its favor.
    • In the same Leitzmann et al study above, they write that, "men with greater ejaculation frequency were more likely to be currently divorced or separated and consumed more total energy".
    • Brody (2010) found in a study involving a large Swedish population that "masturbation was inversely associated with mental health satisfaction", that "masturbation frequency was inversely associated with love", and that "PVI [i.e. male-female intercourse] orgasmic consistency (proportion of PVI occasions resulting in PVI orgasm) was inversely associated with masturbation frequency".
    • Regnerus and Gordon (2012) found that "Besides a predictable link with both pornography and elevated sexual desire, past-day and past-week masturbation reports are associated with greater personal and relational dissatisfaction, anxiety, and unhappiness, especially among men."
A lot of the science behind this topic is ongoing. So it strikes me as irresponsible for a purported health website to just declare that frequent ejaculation is good for you.

On the other hand, there is strong evidence (both in the scientific literature and on the NoFap forums) that your life will be much better if you remove the constant PMO.

Thanks for the studies. The Brody study is correlational though, and I think that PVI is associated with happiness because of the relationship aspect. You're more likely to be in a relationship if you're attractive and confident and happy, so there's more PVI. It's not that masturbation causes negative stuff necessarily. It's possible that lonely, unattractive and socially inhibited men tend to masturbate more because they cannot find a mate. Realistically, some men will just never find a mate.

I've read that the hormone cocktail produced by PIV versus M is quite different. That may be a contributor as well.

Ok... That's great. But the question is can you masturbate once every 2 weeks? I can't even get a streak of 2 weeks. If I get a streak a few days and try to masturbate just once, the compulsion takes over and I wind up jerking until I physically can't anymore.

I am not sure what your point is by the Wikipedia link. But I sure didn't appreciate being redirected to a page with explicit photos of men and women masterbating. Show some consideration for other Fapstronauts and their triggers.

Whoops, didn't realize there were pics. The idea that masturbation can be healthy is not crazy was my point. It takes people with particular beliefs about sex and masturbation in a particular social and cultural context to make it unhealthy, or bad.

No worries I understand why you could think Wikipedia is safe. Can you delete the link? I see what you are saying but while masterbation may be isn't unhealthy it doesn't mean it's healthy. I disagree with healthy strokes on a lot of things because there seems to be a lot of hear say. I think his crusade against M prone is farcical. From someone with a 16 year prone habit.
