K9 Web Protection (Alternatives?)

Hi Folks,

As some may know, K9 Web Protection - a popular and free internet filter - was purchased by a large security company a while back. Now comes word that, as of June 30 2019, K9 will be 'decommissioned'. What this means exactly I do not know, but myself and a few other friends are beginning to notice some functionality disintegration in the service.

Assuming this is a sign of things to come, I am starting to look for a K9 alternative and wonder what others here might suggest. To be more specific, I am looking for a laptop (MacBook) alternative and the three features I most appreciate with K9 are:

1. Time restrictions
2. Category blockers
3. Capacity to block / allow specific websites.

Recommendations anyone?
