Keeping a journal specifically for tracking behaviors or impulses?

    I'm considering either keeping a notebook or creating a note file on my phone for monitoring my impulses. It could look something like:

    What am I tempted to do?
    What am I feeling?
    What am I doing now?

    and so forth. So for example:

    Want to pmo. Why? Bored. Alternatives? Video game. Spontaneous writing. Research that thing. Play with the dog. Pick one. Go now.

    or

    Craving junk food. Want something sweet. Store closes in half an hour so I should leave now. Maybe I should grab some vegetables and dip instead, no, I'll end up getting that and a pack of cookies too.
