Learning to Run

    So I decided recently that I wanted to start running. At first I was just jogging a one mile loop near my house.

    I have now decided that I want to train to run a 5K. I've never ran for any distance till now so this will be interesting. I'm using a training program from the running world website. I just got done going for my run today and I feel great.

    I've always struggled with self control in many areas not just porn. Running is forcing me to create discipline in my life.

    That's great! A nice goal to get started.
    Make sure you train with proper technique, to avoid injury and fatigue.

    So I'm still using Runner's World beginner 5k guide. Today and tomorrow are both rest days. I'm using today for a strength training routine that they suggested as well. Tomorrow is Yoga.

    I will definitely check out let's run. What's wrong with runners world?

    It's mostly for the normie hobbyjoggers crowd and the quality of articles went way down a long time ago. Knock yourself out if you like it though, your choice.

    Day 3:

    Yoga went well. I forget how tough yoga can be until I'm doing it.

    Day 4:

    Run went well. Was out for 36 minutes. Ran 2 mins, walked 4 and repeated 6 times. Traveled 2.8 miles.

    I think it's going to be crazy when I can run a full mile without stopping. I've never done that before even in high school.

    Day 5:

    Today is a rest day so I took a 30 minute walk. Nice relaxing session.

    Day 6:

    I have just finished today's run. 3 min running, 3 mins walking repeat 4 times. Traveled just over 2 miles in 27 mins. It was a good run though my pace had to slow down as I got closer to 3 mins.

    Day 7:

    Work out day. I did my normal workout today. I found it harder to complete the routine today but I got it done. I actually almost cut it short but then realized I would be lieing if I said I had finished it when I hadn't. I want to be honest on here so I had to complete the work out.

    Day 8:

    I did my run this evening and was able to do the whole thing. Same pattern as last run. My knees were tired today. Not sure if that is an issue with my recovery time not being enough, or if swimming earlier wore out my knees.

    Rest day today being used for rest due to sore knees.

    I run in the morning with 5 years. and I can tell you that it helps me to feel cheerful all day

    Day 10:

    I did yoga again. I hate down dog. I am roughly 6'8" tall and I'm not very flexible.

    Day 11:

    I did my run today. My legs are exhausted. I ran/jogged for 5 minutes three times with only 3 minutes between each time. I've never ran this much before in my life.

    I am doing a rest day today. I did go swimming today which was awesome.
     
  19. Heh. Nice that you want to do this. Running is beautiful thing. I recommend music for you to run with (if you listen to music much) to be heavy and angry. Let the energy go out on maximum. I remember running like 3 miles and in next day I was like - fuck it! Let's go 6.2. And I did. Wasn't easy but I was so happy!! Running is religion, running is something else, man... Wish you luck and stay with it.

  20. Don't be too hard on your body and make sure that you have a running instructor. I had improper nutrition, improper technique and no rehab schedule which led to stress fractures in tibia of both of my legs. Its been 2 yrs and it's not healed cause I kept running even when I had pain.
