it has helped me in my field eg i studied engineering so eg if i have to explain to a bunch of techs or laborers i can use an historical eg instead of confuse everybody with techno babble

eg instead of saying we cant use this steel because the grain structure, Load Resistance Factor Design and Allowable Stress Design etc etc

Actually, post war Stalin time was also great. So i would say that after WW 2 till 90 there were gold times of USSR. Espesially under command of young Brezhnev (General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee from 1966-1982). Even thou time time was nicknamed by our hisoriense as "stagnation period". It was time when people were living the most peacefully (aside from whole Cold War thing). About Stalin rulership... in the contrast of everything how media demonstrats him, he was also not that bad. People oftenly mistakenly compering him to Hitler. While, he was brutal and cold for sure, but normal poeple of the time were likening him a lot. To the point that they planned mummify him and put near Lenin in the Moscow mausoleum at some point. And you can still find some old generation russians nowadays that liking him. I can anwer why some people like him, despide what his done, if you interesing. Personaly, i puting allmost everything that history toches in the neutral color. Mosly becouse i thing it is a right thing. Its to complex of a thing, to consider something 100% good or bad (aside from someone like Hilter ofcourse).
And the thing about our revolutioners leaders, and revolutioners overall, is that they were truly beliving in what they were fighting for. They were beliving that communism is possible. They were beliving in the World Revolution. They were ready to die for that idea. To sacrifice everything for future of they country and that idea. So,at least they got a spirit.) While White guard mosly were fighting for themselfs and for old traditions. Wich one of the reasons why Red Army won. History shows, that when russia fight for the idea, they thing is righteousness, they will die, but continue fighting.
