Hello everyone! How you doing? I've started seeing a psychologist two weeks ago in order to fix my problematic sexual behaviour once and for all. After we've talked about some morality issues of porn and masturbation. We've agreed that I can allow myself to masturbate once a week without porn or anything else but my own imagination (a.k.a "Lite Mode"). Although I was more energetic when I was on a long Hard Mode streaks, I do feel better about myself and my happiness and confidence are slowly begin to raise. It made me question a lot about my progress ever since I've discovered NoFap last year; maybe I took it too far? maybe I should begin with Lite Mode on the first place? I don't regret about that. NoFap gave me alot beside sexual healing; self improvement mindset, self discipline, criticism etc... My goal now is to reach 90 days on Lite Mode and I think I will because I think it's ok to meet your sexual needs in a healthy way. That's what Ive wanted from the beginning...
Baowistop, Everybody on here has a different story than you. Everybody on here has a different idea of what is healthy and appropriate for themselves. Everybody on here is just trying to be the best person that they can be. Unfortunately, nobody on here can give you the perfect game plan for your situation, even though some people might think that they can. In the end, if you want to try Easy mode, and see how that goes, you should! Hard mode might not have been the best option for you. Personally, I tried hard mode for a couple of months and didn't understand why I couldn't masturbate every couple of weeks. Many people offered advice ranging from "it is completely okay to masturbate every day" to "you should never masturbate again in your life." I had to take every bit of advice with a grain of salt and I took the actions that I deemed most appropriate. You have set out on a very admirable goal; to reach 90 days on Easy Mode. Maybe after you've completed those 90 days you'll decide to do another 90, or maybe you'll change the mode in which you attack this addiction. Whatever your goals are, everyone on this forum will support you, including me! Godspeed, J
It's actually still very beneficial. But most people probably wouldn't be able to masturbate without Porn OR fantasizing about porn or porn-like scenarios in the first place.
Addiction is not binary, it exists on a spectrum. Everybody has different goals depending on how far down the rabbit hole they have gone. My position is that people who have gotten to the point of sexual dysfunction as a result of their addiction would benefit from complete abstinence if their primary goal is curing that sexual dysfunction.
Like said above, we all have different goals. Just make sure you aren't rationalizing MO just because quitting it is hard. Difficult things often bring the most reward.
Good luck brother! At the minimum, I would recommend updating a journal or post on this website just so you can be held accountable.
