I've been suffering a pmo addiction for thirty years now. Joined nofap a long while ago, but recently rediscovered the site.

Here's some hopefully helpful advice and discussion from a fellow battler just now coming to real terms with his addiction.

Probably one of my first huge roadblocks was the fact I have PMO obsessive compulsion. Yes, I have the usual addiction issues we gentlemen face, however my addiction is massively compounded by mental illness, obsessive compulsive disorder.
I am properly diagnosed and medicated to help control it but it doesn't neutralize the issue altogether ,so I'm very prone to slipping.

SO, I need to be doubly, triply sure I have minimal access to any P and I'm extremely crafty in obtaining a new supply, thanks to my OCD, much to my own detriment. When I start surfing/scrolling, neither the length of time I use nor the content consumed is of any concern until I feel like I'm literally about to throw up. My binges regularly last several hours , longest being twelve hours straight without eating , drinking or sleeping.

Not only is this a dangerous waste of time, but my own moral, ethical and spiritual beliefs clash violently with my P usage.

My first bit of advice for heavy addicts is Cold Turkey blocker. This free blocker is a gift from God as it can be set up to include any website or search term you like. Don't use the 'as long as possible' block as that can be circumvented , rather time each block from 2 am to 1.59 am so that the entire day is permanently blocked out. There's a window of one minute early morning before the block starts again, not enough time to do squat.

Test each block for a short time as certain block terms can really kill your web usage. For instance, blocking the word Porn will prevent you from accessing Nofap forums as they have that word in them! If you block the wrong term you are outta luck as Cold turkey won't let you change it, period. Cold Turkey is dead ruthless and a perfect tool for us addicts.

Take a look at various social media , friend and website groups you use. I had some notable sites I had to delete my accounts from because they just weren't safe and could trigger a binge episode.

Finally beware of unexpected secondary sources. Recently I had to uninstall a certain video game that I modded to include NSFW and P content. This led to me ruining a three week clean streak with multiple binges. Cue the usual anger, disgust, shame and so on.

Which brings me to my last point. When you fall, pick yourself up and get back in the saddle. Moderate whatever caused the slip and soldier on. If you're like me and your addiction is bolstered by other issues, this is the hardest thing to do without wallowing for hours in self pity and loathing.

So that's it for now. Hope this helps some of you chaps out there in addict land. Keep your chins up and beat that addiction!
