So I don't have a girlfriend (I have trouble dating (anxiety)).
I made the mistake of signing up for one of the image blog websites recently, I had a message exchange with a lady that looks quite alternative and it got me so exited I sent her messages when I should have been sleeping.

I tried turning my phone off and closing my eyes, but it didn't work - I felt wired and completely unable to sleep - so I only had 2 hours sleep last night before work.

I feel confused, disorientated, lonely, like a jerk for messaging with that woman and jet-lagged
This phenomenon happens once every few weeks and makes me loose a nights sleep, I do the same with dating websites.

It's like I'm using dateing/IM the same way I use porn, for numbing loneliness but not for anything REAL.

    This is so bad

hey how has your sleeping been? I agree anything electronic before bed makes it difficult to fall asleep

  3. Hey Lee, I think there are two sides to your problem.

One side is completely natural. I don't think losing sleep when talking to an interesting person is a bad thing. I did it way before I started to have problems with PMO, in times before high speed internet, and I continue to do so occasionally.

The question is: do you lose sleep and feel wired unconditionally? What I mean is: do you still feel wired after you both said good night and keep browsing?

    Hello Lee,

losing sleep after to texting might be caused by blue light from the screen. Blue light affects your body like daylight and tells it to stay awake.

Your phone might have a feature, called "Night Light" on Android, iPhones have a similar feature "Blue light reduction". It will tilt your screen's color temperature towards warmer yellowish colors, whenever the sun is down. So your screen will look more like sunset colors. The idea is, that it will reduce the amount of blue light from the screen, which would keep you awake. I've been using this Night Light on Android for some months and it really helps to improve sleep.
