    Hi guys!

I was just thinking to myself - what would the last 10 years have been like if I'd never encountered or even just never been addicted to porn? Would I have felt better and been happier? Would I have coped worse in fact? Was porn a deeply flawed but essential form of expression and development?

Just wondering what your thoughts are on taking an objective view of porn in your life, the good and the bad.

Part of me thinks that even though I went through many down times, the struggle made me strong. Also more controversially, the addiction kinda made me feel more independent as a teen - having this secret and doing something rebellious. Again, a deeply flawed habit and I have every reason to stop like all of us here.

What are your thoughts on reflection?

Also sorry if there has already been a post like this before!

@JethroTull, I think porn definitely was a huge part of how I grew up, was defined, and developed. Maybe not the best way to go about it for sure. I know it is destructive and causes a bunch of issues, but I would definitely not be nearly the same person as I am today had PMO not affected my life. To say if I would be a stronger or weaker individual, I do not know. However, I do know that as a result of my total life package and journey, I am a stronger individual. What parts of those contributed in what ways, I do now know and it really is hard to say.

Yeah I'm with you on that. It's had a huge effect, but you're right it's just too hard to say whether we'd be better or worse off without it there in our history.

I don't know about you, but I find myself really strong when it comes to controlling how much alcohol I drink and how much food I eat. It's like those things have compensated in my brain. What about yourself?

I went to a college and was rebelling against everything I knew, that being said for my first 2 semesters at college I partied hard. I joined a fraternity, the whole thing. I drank a lot until I met a girl who straightened me out, at least with drinking. I don't like the flavor of beer and I know the effects hard liquor has on me, even if I like it. I take extra care to have any alcohol in moderation. I haven't been drunk in who knows how long. I don't drink beer. Occasionally I will have a hard cider type drink or mixed drink on rare occasions. I can't afford alcohol either, so that makes it easier.

Food and all of that has never been an issue for me, my family has always stressed portion control etc. I am not entirely sure what you mean by its compensated?

If I never had a porn problem, I might still be with my ex-wife. Now there's a horrifying thought.
