Lucid dreaming

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Jul 4, 2018.

  1. I guess I'll post this here because I believe it involves spirituality, at least some what. Anybody here like lucid dreaming? I've been reading a book on it and I've found the absolute best method of inducing lucid dreams is redistributing sleep. I'd say I have an 85 to 90% success rate by doing this. WILD is so hard for me because I always fall back asleep and I never notice dreamsigns. Anybody have any tips?

What book are you reading? Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge and Howard Rheingold is by far the best. Pretty much everything else you see is someone else retelling what they said first.

I did a lot of experimenting with LD a very long time ago. Not at all lately. I do still have random lucid dreams on very rare occasions.

  3. Dude, that is the exact book that I'm reading. It's teaching me a lot, but damn are there a lot of different techniques. I tried the spinning technique here recently and that helped prolong my lucid dream. To be honest, the only luck I've had with lucid dreaming is when I redistribute sleep. I lucid dream literally every single time.

I'm still having some problems controlling the dream, but I know it will get better with time. What's the best lucid dream you've had? The best one I had was started by seeing my dad. I was fishing with him and I realized that he's no longer alive and that made me realize that I was dreaming. I started flying, drove a bad ass muscle car, started playing guitar very loudly in the street and I almost had sex, but I woke up. I wonder if lucid dream sex is bad for NoFap? That's something I'm betting not many people have discussed here.

My serious experiences with LD were were nearly 40 years ago. The most valuable thing I could offer as advice is that I was also doing meditation at the time and that seemed to do a lot to enable LD.
Well, um, that would be a lucid wet dream I had way back in the day. The experience was indescribably "real". I would say about 95% as good as real sex. All the more amazing because I was still a virgin at the time.
There really is no way to know. Nothing that could be genuinely called "research" has been done. Any opinion you get from anyone here (including me) is only going to be an expression of whatever they are predisposed to want to believe about that in the first place. You should follow your own instincts and make your own call on that one.
This also is what worked best for me.

  5. So you were a virgin and it actually felt like real sex? If so, then that's pretty incredible. I mean, if you were a virgin then you didn't know what sex felt like, so if it felt real in the dream then that goes to show the power of the mind and the imagination. I actually had a lucid sex dream yesterday, but it didn't last long and I had trouble controlling it. It was pretty awesome honestly.

Yeah man, I'd say it's pretty healthy for NoFap. It doesn't make me feel ashamed like porn does, and there is a tremendous difference between sex and masturbation anyway. Even though it was a dream, it just felt so passionate. Definitely different than PMO. I think for me personally, I'll keep experiencing with sex in lucid dreams. Of course that's not all I want to do in my dreams. I'd like to create some really psychedelic environment and just walk through some woods with blue trees and a magenta colored sky with distant planets in plain sight. That would be fucking amazing. :)

  6. Could you give some basic instructions on how we can acheive a lucid dream. I use to be able to do it sometimes as a teen without knowing what lucid dreaming was. Cant really do it any more.

When i first learned about lucid dreaming (13.5 years ago) i tried every possible technique , WILD, MILD, reality signs etc. But i would not have a ld at first, later i started to have lds ocassionally, then i became christian and lost interest in lds, then when i wasnt trying to have them they happened frequently. My problem with lds is that most of them i used for kissing women or a few times for sex, then it would wake me up instantly and i lost the chances of discovering the oniric world.

I no longer have them, and i wished i used them for higher purposes.

Do a web search for lucid dreams. There are trainloads of sites out there that lay out the basics and more. But again, nearly all of it is repackaged info from the book by LaBerge and Rhiengold.

Search for ld4all.com or .org, its a forum like this one but about lucid. Dreams.

  10. I'd say the best things you can do would be to start a dream journal, do awareness checks multiple times a day, and redistribute sleep. Keep a journal beside your bed and when you wake up write down all of your dreams, at least what you can remember. Look up dreamsigns and figure out what yours are. Every day ask your self "am I dreaming?" and really ask yourself. Test yourself by reading something, looking away and then reading it again. If it changes, you're probably dreaming. Words tend to change or make no sense in the dream world.

To redistribute sleep, wake up 2 hours before you normally would, go about your business, and then 2 hours or so later go back to sleep and you will almost definitely have a lucid dream. It works for me every single time. 30 minutes before you go back to sleep really think about what you want to dream about. Another very important thing to do is to relax your body. When you go to lay back down, flex all of your muscles individually and then breathe in, pushing your diaphragm out and then breathe out. Imagine all of the tension leaving your body.

Start with your hand or foot, flex it for about 5 to 10 seconds, release it, imagine the tension leaving your body, breathe in using your diaphragm and then breathe back out. It's very important to relax your body. Flex all of your body parts and then go to sleep.

Most of my lds were in the last hours of sleep.

  12. Yeah that's when REM starts lasting longer. You want to get at least 7 or so hours of sleep, but 8 and more is great.

Thats why i no longer have lds, im only sleeping 5hrs.

  14. Yeah if you even hit REM sleep then it wouldn't last very long. Is it a job? College? I used to work 12 hours at night and I didn't have a lot of time for lucid dreaming. It fucking pissed me off so bad. Nobody should work 12 hours unless you're working for yourself or something you believe in.

12hrs?!! What kind of job is that?!
And for me, no its no job or college, rather something physiological.

  16. A shitty one. I don't do it anymore, but I did for almost 2 years. There's no describing how depressing it is to do nothing but work and sleep. So insomnia then?

Man, I never want to be in that situation. The ideal is 1/3 sleep 1/3 work 1/3 whatever I want. Eventually just leisure and sleep!

I've been trying to lucid dream the past few weeks with no success. I'll try your tips, sleep redistribution and body relaxation especially. Thanks

Can I just set an alarm 2 hours before waking, and go back to sleep immediately, will that work?

  18. Cool, i'm very interested in this topic as well! To be honest, i noticed an improvement with dream recall (no lucid dreaming yet, but massive improvements in dream clarity) with Nofap and a clean vegan diet. I think it's all interconnected, striving for a pure & clean lifestyle will definitely help with these kind of thing imo. Grtz & peace

  19. Diet can help for sure, but I have no experience with that. I've thought about eating just fruit and shit like that, but I don't think it will do good for lifting weights. Maybe I'm wrong.

  20. Just experiment.. my conclusion is vegan is the best, and i dont only eat fruits, but i do eat a lot of them
