I came across this saying today, and thought it applies here. It also works well with the slight edge philosophy in the book The Slight Edge. "Many raindrops make an ocean." And it works both ways - positive and negative.

Many of us have specific goals we're working toward like a number of days without PMO. In that case, each small victory builds toward reaching our goals, and puts us even further toward the next goal.

On the other hand, small things can add up to a relapse. Dwelling on a passing thought rather than quickly dismissing it could be the start, or edging, or watching a TV show that presents as entertainment stuff that I know tears me down. I find that allowing myself small liberties can send me down the path to relapse.

That's why I've chosen no PMO and no edging at all for a year. No wiggle room. I'm not allowing myself a single raindrop. That's ambitious, I know. And I might not reach that goal the first time I try. But if I relapse it won't be because I decided ahead of time that it was OK to allow myself even the first "raindrop".

    nice post:)

Tis true we have to be mindful when allowing ourselves small 'liberties' and this idea reminds me of a great quote by Viktor Frankl, “I recommend that the Statue of Liberty be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West coast” (I LOVE that!;)), and taking responsibility for ourselves certainly does seem key especially in a world where we might just have taken the notion of 'liberty' more than a little too far.

    All the best to you:)
