Masturbating once is not a "relapse" it's a "reset" - Risky/excessive masturbation can be a relapse.

So, ignoring European Countries study where Norwegian men (65%) aged 60-75 and ignored Spain and Mexico. Then focus on just the Australian study. None of this disproves that a majority (more than 50%) of all the men in these populations M. You cannot make a claim on if it's healthy or not, it's just fact that it occurs.

In the China study you link to it also states, "Prevalence for people in their 20s was higher, and closer to US and European levels, especially for men." So still supporting what I'm saying.

It goes on to say, "For both women and men, practicing masturbation appeared to be a two-step process. In the first step, events such as sexual contact in childhood, early puberty, and early sex were related to sexualization and the "gateway event" of adolescent masturbation. In the second step, other factors, such as liberal sexual values and sexual knowledge, further increased the current probability of masturbation. Overall, the results suggest that masturbation is readily adopted even at more modest levels of economic and social development, that masturbation is often more than simply compensatory behavior for regular partnered sex, that masturbatory patterns are heavily influenced by early sexualization, and that a complex model is needed to comprehend masturbatory practice, particularly for women."
It does not prove that M is abnormal, learned/conditioned behavior.

I agree. IMO it's healthy, but it seems hard to prove, except for the fact that modern medicine says it is healthy when not overdone and if it doesn't interfere with daily functioning. Drugs/alcoholism/violence are harmful so it does not equate to comparing it to M (which is not unhealthy if done in a healthy way). I would equate it more to a pleasurable activity

Isn't the "consensus" that porn is fine too? I'm extremely skeptical of "most doctors / scientists / psychologists agree" statements without actually reading the studies or statements that they are agreeing to. A great example is the whole man made global warming thing -- the proof and "agreement" on this is vastly overblown when you actually look into the figures. For example, that 97% of scientists agree on man made global warming bit comes from a questionnaire sent out to something like 6k scientists, 3k responded, and then of those, 80 something were selected as having apparently valid opinions. Of those, 78 said "yes" to man made global warming. Whether your agree about global warming being caused by Co2 is besides the point -- the point is simply that these ideas about what is agreed upon and what isn't is often manipulated in ways that aren't immediately apparent to the casual observer.

Based on personal experience, which isn't worth much scientifically, orgasming with a woman that you care about seems vastly different than MO or PMO. I don't know why, but I'm not drained by being with a woman. I don't feel the guilt, the crash, or the life being sucked out of me. I can't explain why and it doesn't make sense, but it seems fundamentally different. That said, one night stands or simply "hooking up" gives me some of that crash / PMO feeling. If I had to guess, it'd be that hooking up / casual sex is similar to masturbation as far as the brain is concerned.

Thanks for this thread. Logging in and reading a few forums really helps reinforce my demeanor for the day.

  6. This is outstanding. I agree 100 percent. The only thing I might change is the word failure. I personally would like to ban it from use for all of us whose motives are good/honest, but yet still haven’t met our personal goals in this area. Thanks for decriminalizing an incidence of non compulsive masturbation. It’s just a pot hole on the road to progress. Stay on the road.

@Benjamin_window1993 , you really need to start a new thread for this. But the simple answer is that porn messes up your natural responses, which is why you have weird and unnatural responses. As always, an initial 90-day hard reboot is the recommendation, after which you can re-evaluate.

well tbh I was thinking about it but I mean switching my thoughts to women after watching something gay, and getting aroused by the women, wouldn't that make me straight ?
I mean from the first time i even did anything with a girl I would always get erect and could ejaculate over it so i think i may just be over reacting just abit

The scientific research is unequivocal about this. Nothing can make you straight or make you gay. You are born the way that you are. That is why "gay cures" do not work, and are even illegal in some countries.

Porn can completely confuse you. Some straight men have written on this forum about being so confused after extreme porn use that they have gone out and taken risky gay sex, and utterly hated it. Porn made them HOCD, but that didn't make them gay.

You are who you are, and porn can't change that. But it can utterly confuse you and ruin your life.

Start a 90-day reboot, and start a new thread for your problems so that other people can help you.

This is incorrect, there is nothing "unequivocal" about it, but this is not the topic to discuss it.

I'm not here to argue with you, i'm here to correct your sensationalistic and false claims. This is not the right place to continue this discussion.

It depends, males have a lot of sexual energy, our sexual behavioral systems are much more expressive because human females are selective breeders. You could even call that our peacocking mechanism since we are primarily pair bonders, this creates a lot of aggressive energy. Now this presents a lot of problems for men in the current age of decadence, most things are done for us now and since men are very much action oriented physiologically that can leave a void where a lot of excess energy isn't spent, and that energy is very much sexual as it is any other part. Now, I personally masturbate occasionally simply to release a lot of pent up energy and return to a more leveled state, which is one of the healthier reasons. Sometimes if you gotta pull your pud, you gotta pull your pud. Though I should stipulate, if you can't control your masturbatory behavior then you are far better off going to the gym and lifting heavy things, or doing something psychologically rigorous to expel it.

You should post a new thread about it in the Rebooting section. Here is a forum usage guide.
