My problem is a masturbation addiction. I've never watched much porn. I feel like I'm experiencing a lot of the same withdrawal symptoms. Does it make sense for me to be experiencing the same flat line and all around adverse effects of quitting despite the fact that I've barely ever watched porn. Let me reiterate that I have definitely had a masturbation problem. Doing it several times a day etc.

I've got the same problem. I would love it if someone with experience and knowledge were to throw some light upon this issue.

I'm suffering from fatigue that I thought was as a result of excessive masturbation. But it also seems I'm experiencing it as a withdrawal symptom. So basically I'm completely stuck and can't get away from this fatigue.

From what I've learned here it is probably your body trying to maintain a habit. Try to go out and do some physical work. Interact with people, try to flame up a curiosity about life. Once you realize the amazing world(after all its imperfections) that we live in, you won't feel like a rot anymore. Best wishes :)

Hey how long have you been given up for? It probably takes a while to get out if the fatigue caused by excessive masturbation

Hi guys. The issue is all about dopamine. Although most people here have had experience of frequent high-speed internet porn usage. A chronic masturbation addiction can also be problematic. If you don't look at anything while masturbating, you almost certainly generate your own sexual fantasies. So there is still a significant dopamine release. When that is denied, your body with crave it a missing substance (just like an addictive drug). It is this that creates the withdrawal symptom(s). Your bodyis trying to force you to trigger a dopamine surge. So, stay strong! You have to weather the storm, but there are much brighter times up ahead. :)

Do you think if I just gradually lower the dose like a heroin addict might, that could help? I've got things I want to be doing from september onwards, so I don't want to be having overwhelming tiredness and depression. When I first tried to stop masturbating I experienced a big surge in energy to the point of hyperactivity. I have since masturbated and quit several times and now when I quit I no longer get the surge in energy, but instead go into a malaise of tiredness and depression. The difference now is that when I quit I'm going from once a day or less to nothing. Whereas originally I went from 4 plus times a day to nothing, yet despite my problem obviously improving I'm actually feeling worse and finding it harder to get the same benefit I initially got from abstaining,

  8. Yes, some people are having more trouble with masturbation than porn and it still is a problem. Like IGY said, it's dopamine. You release lots of dopamine during orgasm and, once it passes a line which it obviously has, will make you want more and form an addiction. If you have more trouble with M, just switch the emphasis over from P and try to do your best at dealing with the addiction and be the cleanest you can be everyday, don't beat yourself up (but don't slack and rationalize).

I wouldn't suggest lowering dosage, because you'll get acute withdrawal symptoms just the same and its kind of half hearted approach. I thought the same and it had helped me it just meant that it'd take longer for my rebooting process and it was more bitter. Although if you conceed the fact that it'll take time to overcome this habit a gradual reduction can be good! Just don't expect results to be flying to you but it can act as a step in the right direction, its all training at the end of the day! It'll mean that you'll get better and better with every streak

I don't mind battling overwhelming urges if I'm going to feel better and have more energy at the same time. But yesterday I felt wiped out and had very strong urges to masturbate. So I succumbed and now I have the lethargy without the urges, so in a sense I'm slightly better off. Holding on in that state of resisting an urge, in the hopes that I would eventually feel better would have been so depressing. Because I literally have no idea when or if resisting would have made me feel better.

I'm thinking of maybe recording my streaks and the total amount of relapses in a month. I can then try and improve both the length of streaks and the amount of relapses in a month by reducing my number each time. This way when I'm stuck with an overwhelming urge I can hold on to beat my record, rather than giving up because I know I won't be able to hold on forever. I'm assuming if I get to say 2 releases a month, then I would essentially be cured.

I see what you are saying @101Josh, but it doesn't work like that. @Moni asked for 'someone with experience and knowledge to throw some light upon this issue'. Well, I am that man. You say, "I know I won't be able to hold on forever". Well, you have to re-examine your commitment. There is a difference to the 'I would like to...' and 'I will not' mind sets. There is no short cut or easier way. If there was, someone would have found it by now. People have tried what you are suggesting for a year or two and ended up having to do it properly anyway.
