Hello, I've been away from the forums for awhile because I wasn't making too much progress with nofap. I still kept nofap in mind, but the anecdotes on what helped people increase their 'day counters' were preaching about their cold shower rituals (I'm sure they help, but I prefer my warm showers) and other lifestyle changes that would help increase your day count. Anyways, I got sick and tired of relapsing and figured there must be a better way to reboot myself. So, I took a vacation from the forums and looked for other possible reasons why rebooting seems so difficult.

Although full recovery is dependent on increasing your will power and discipline to change your old habits, I'm pretty sure that our will power is dependent on the condition of our current health. With that said, I think you can benefit a lot by taking an Amino Acid Complex supplement. I am in no way trying to endorse any products or anything of that nature. This is simply my own anecdote after discovering how much it has helped me the past two days of taking it. I do, however, want to say how it has helped me because it may not work the same for everyone else.

So, I recently learned more about my triggers and when I act on them. I should write it down somewhere too, but I haven't (don't follow my example and write your triggers down!). And discovered that I am most likely to PMO before going to bed. But, if I'm too tired, then I become too lazy to PMO and would rather go to sleep. However, if I do not try to sleep at the peak of my sleepiness, my arousal wakes me up to the point where I can PMO or edge. This is also due to me sleeping with my phone, and can probably be avoided if I just keep it off my bed (but who can resist?).

Yesterday, I took 1 pill before bed (with my other Magnesium and Zinc supplements, they help with sleep). I decided to take a look at some P to see if I would MO. I like to test myself sometimes to see what makes me want to finish M to O. Upon initial browsing of some sites, I did not have an urge to M. Yes, it could be that I was lazy to M, but I was looking at trigger-material. I recognized that I see what I like, but didn't feel like acting upon any urges, it was weird. Even when I tried to M, against these urges, I didn't feel like reaching O (I would also like to note that the last time I PMO'd was a couple days ago, which would affect my sensitivity). After my attempt, I just became bored of P and decided to go to sleep. Coincidence? Maybe, but upon reading some online marketplace reviews on some Amino Acid Complex supplements, reviewers noted that it helped curb some of their addictions and depression! Remember, I only took a single pill too. So maybe the effects are more pronounced if I take a higher dose, but I'm sticking with this for now until I make that decision.

I know there are a ton of supplements out there and hearing that a single pill can even help curb addictions can easily be discounted as snake oil, but I bought a bottle for ~$10 for 100 capsules ($0.10/capsule) - you can try this for yourself at the cost of a dime. Though it won't cure you, it will probably help you tremendously. If you decide to try it, please share your results here because if it helps more than one person then it can be very beneficial to the community.

    Other information:

I also noticed more energy and strength after taking 1 pill. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and your metabolism, so if you're vegetarian or don't consume a lot of meat then you could definitely use it in your diet.

But, what if you already consume enough meat?
I'm trying to figure that out now, but I know that I have problems with digestion so my meat gets poorly digested to breakdown the proteins into amino acids to be absorbed.

What amino acids are in your supplement?
    L-Glutamine, L-Aspartic Acid, L-Tyrosine, L-Leucine, L-Valine, Taurine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Proline, L-Lysine HCI, L-Isoleucine, L-Serine, L-Alanine, L-Threonine, L-Methionine, L-Arginine, L-Glycine, L-Histidine HCI, L-Cysteine HCI. (All are free-form).

    What dosage should I take?
My brand says to take 1 pill daily, but yours might say to take 4. My best advice is to check what other reviewers say about the product before taking it. Though, you should take the smallest dosage if you're unsure, and then build up to the recommended dosage when you feel ready. The 1 pill I took was very effective, and but I'm sure you will benefit a little more with a higher dosage of 2-4 pills (depending on the brand and your wallet!).

You mentioned taking Magnesium and Zinc for sleep, what form and dosage are you taking them at?
I'm taking magnesium citrate 400mg and zinc picolinate 60mg. The magnesium dosage is good, but the zinc is a little high for most. I'm planning on dropping to 30mg later, so if you're unsure then that's a safe dosage. It's recommended to take some copper 1:15 with zinc because zinc chelates copper and it could make you deficient (when supplementing with high levels of zinc for a long time).
