Don't expect to have no more temptations because it's practically impossible. All addicts have more temptations than non addicts - this is a form of punishment too. The more frequent somebody has given in to some temptations the more frequent they are. The deeper the fall was the stronger temptations come when an addictc tries to get rid of them. It's because giving in to any sin makes us more enslaved to satan and he gains some rights of our soul, mind, body. We gave satan our soul and body in sin and as a result he 'has' us to the degree we have sinned so far. We as Catholics often think that we can go to confession and Communion and we will be free from this enslavement. No, it's necessary to have lots of confessions, Communions, lots of prayer to be set free by Jesus. It's the same in case of demonic possessions. It's rare that somebody is set free after one exorcism. I read about series of exorcisms where the freedom was comming gradually. The process took even months or years. I'm convinced that in case of addictions we can say about strong demonic influence. It's not a demonic possession but a strong demonic influence. And consequently I think that the process of getting out of an addiction takes so much time. Keli, be prepared rather for more frequent and stronger temptations. But if you meet them with your prayer any time when they occur and so long as they last then you will win with God's grace. You are in war. Don't expect to have peace. You must win the war first and then the peace will come (rare temptations and not strong). I have rare temptations and not strong - they are even very mild but at the beginning or even when you are 1 year sober don't count on it. You are in war and can't expect peace now. You can expect some short lasting periods of peace when you fight praying but they will be only short lasting - for example some minutes or 15 minutes. Sometimes maybe 1 hour or some hours but rather not longer like in war time. And to have this short time peace periods you must pray at the moment of temptation because the peace periods are temporary graces of God. Without them it's practically impossible or very rare for an addict to not give in and it will be very painful when some get no temporary peace periods. Prayer at the time of temptation is the answer, solution and healing.
