MO without the P? your thoughts?

  1. In short- how to use your mind and focus to be productive and reach goals in life and to recognize sabotaging thoughts that are obstacles in you productivity. What to do further to be life creator instead of PMO addict.

    What's up bro? I'm thinking on going through this path as well. I have become much better in the past not using porn, but have fallen back to this bad habit. I'm looking to get back on track, without porn, but to continue to masturbate, albeit not very frequent, in a planned manner.
     
  4. This sounds really helpful, How can you apply this to social anxiety? What steps do you take to disarm egotistical defense mechanisms?
     
  5. Masturbating 4 times a week will keep you in the PMO cycle and I think your brain is going to keep reacting like an addict's brain would, even if there is no porn. That's because the orgasm is still going to give your brain a huge shot of dopamine and that keeps a person hooked on masturbation. The brain gets true healing through doing hard mode, that's no PMO. I don't think you would really get the benefits of recovery if you keep giving your brain that rush of dopamine, you will still feel the same.

    What about masturbating just once a week, or maybe once every two weeks?
     
  7. I think it would still affect you negatively. My addiction involved doing PMO usually only once a week and sometimes once every two weeks based on my will power. I still felt quite messed up, brain fog, anxiety and other withdrawals were occurring. I would start feeling a little bit better and then masturbate again.. then the numbness and brain fog returns for about 3 days.

    I hear you, I wonder if it's something that can be different from person to person.

    One, that as you mention, your addiction still involved doing PMO (using porn), and I agree that's a problem, even if done once a month, cuz we are addicts, and porn keeps wounding our minds.

    And second, I refer to just MO, like in my case, for the last year I got to a good momentum of doing great things even when MO once a week, by not using porn. Like I was functioning great, porn is the issue that destroys me.
     
  9. Yes it is true, I don't have any experience with masturbating without looking at something explicit. However, MO would still cause your brain to have a dopamine spike and its destroying the brain's reward system, even just once a week.
    I think it is best if we all leave the whole package behind and just let O happen naturally. That's the best route to a full recovery.

    Yeah, but so does sex cause your brain to have a dopamine spike. And like some people decide to go Hard mode, and other people decide continue having sex, there could be a way of healing from porn addiction, while doing MO only.

    I find that when doing non masturbation streaks, then I end relapsing to porn. I prefer to masturbate without porn so I don't have to relapse to porn for a longer period of time

    My thoughts: when I masturbate without pornography, I feel worse than with pornography. With pornography at least I'm not focusing on viewing myself do that pathetic thing, when I masturbate without watching anything on the other hand, I'm self aware that I'm doing something utterly stupid and pathetic, worthy of a vermin. Conclusion: they both suck and I want both of them out of my life.

    Best to do without both. Even masturbation without porn still sedates you.
     
  13. I don't know all of the details but generally people that are having sex don't report feeling like how your typical PMO addict would. Maybe they are just physically tired but I don't hear about them getting brain fog and the other weird effects but I don't know how it feels for sure. (Maybe someone that has experience with sex can help confirm or deny this)

  16. Addiction is speaking through you. Without being honest to yourself and clear about your situation, you will be like alcoholic drinking one shot from time to time telling that little drink never killed somebody. Consider that you don't need to waste your priceless creative energy into vain pleasure. Also sex is obviously different than masturbation, it not the same in effects.
     
  17. Anxiety is one mechanism, social anxiety is no different than aby other kind of anxiety - theres only difference in form. 'inner child work', journaling, meditation, therapy but also physical exercises like WimHof Method, yoga, running and breathing exercises are helpful. Anxiety can really disturb life, during reboot anxiety can be even bigger due to PAWS. It should be adressed and treat properly.

    What you're referring to (mo in a planned manner) has never worked out for any individual ever, frequently known as dieting,most people get my question wrong,i only asked if im in pain cuz of withdrawal symptoms is it better to mo without p or is it better to suffer from the pain,the answer i got is its better to suffer and that's what im gonna do,dieting never works and as many people already said its just a waste, although at the end of the day it is still better than pmo, but not by much
