I am embarking on a quest to Achieving my Goals Completely whilst being Productive Everyday. I commit to writing on this thread everyday and posting my results, holding myself accountable to the community. I also hope to post all insights and ways of achieving my goals, which should help. Also, please feel free to provide your best advise on achieving goals and being productive. Goals Include (characteristics of a successful day): 1) following my predefined schedule 2) completing my to do list 3) Acing my exams Stay Strong, Icerberg
Day 1: SUCCESS Productive day. I also woke up earlier 6:30. Tomorrow I hope to wake up at 6. Athough I got lots of study done today I know I need to increase my amounts and outputs each more. My new goal is doing a minimum of 8 hours high quality study per day. Minimum meaning hopefully 10 most days. What is the best strategy I could take to force myself to do this or make it easier for this to happen and increase my outputs e.g. productivity? Stay Strong, Iceberg
What worked best for me is creating a room free of distractions and be as clear and organized about what I wanted to accomplish. Also the library is great. Just being in that kind of environment makes it much easier to focus and get studying done.
Personally, I hate studying in the library. I find that many people in libraries practice 'pseudo-working'. This is where they spend large amounts of time there and they look like they are working hard but due to a lack of focus and concentration, they don't actually get much done. That's why I like to study in isolated study spots and sometimes in small groups whilst working on problem sets. I like the 'free room of distractions' points. The problem for me is that my main study room is my bedroom. It would be grate to have separate rooms because I heard that it can affect productivity according to studies in addition to affecting the quality of sleep. It has also been an environment that has previously led to pmo in the past, since I am near my bed with no one around.
Day 2: SUCCESS I did the 8 hours. It was good, but I did not exercise. Tomorrow, I must exercise in addition to doing my 8hrs. I also hope to be even more productive in those 8 hours tomorrow. The accomplishment today was that my study sessions were more productive then the ones I had yesterday but I still need to improve. How do I be more productive, get more done and put more effort while I am studying? What is the best strategy to force myself to get the 8hrs of study and exercise done each day? I have had some great responses for the second question, however, I am still thinking of more ideas to be even better. Stay Strong, Iceberg
You could set up a target for each day. Read X number of chapters, answer X number of questions. Is your bedroom the only place you can study?
I agree with recovering nurse. If I have to read 8 chapters in a day for example, then I just split the work up per chapter. Pages are an good alternative if you don't have chapters. The best that works for me is closing all your tabs (if you work on your computer) that you don't need and put away your phone, where you can't see it. Take a break after each or two chapters and you'll be productive. Try to do as much in the morning/beginning of the day. The later on the day, how harder it becomes to be more productive in my own opinion. Remember to take breaks for sure, you won't succeed in so much work if you don't take them. Plan your activities for the day in the morning and say to yourself what you need to have done before lunch, before dinner and so on. Becoming more productive is all about the mindset that you have, you'll need to ability to force yourself to focus. I know that is hard, but it comes with discipline. One last piece of advice, complete your taks one by one. If you go to something else, you will still have the unfinished task in your mind. That is not only bad for your mindset, but also loses focus and overall productivity.
Day 3: SUCCESS Again achieved my goals for today. I had a better day today relative to yesterday. I have had some great advise. Thank you. Stay Strong, Iceberg
Nice one brother being productive is one of the key to recovery, if we decide to stop PMO, then we decide to stop being mediocre. Good luck on your journey.
Day 4: SUCCESS Unfortunately, I did not exercise and I also woke up late but I did all the study I needed to. Stay Strong, Iceberg
I don't think I gave in to my porn use last night. I was tired and exhausted. I felt right back asleep again. I have a migraine right now as a withdrawal symptom because I did not watch porn at all. I only edged. haha. lol.
Day 5: SUCCESS Did lots of study in addition to fitness. However, I work up late in addition to starting studies late. I will resolve this and tomorrow I will write here stating that I overcame this problem. Stay Strong, Iceberg
Day 6: SUCCESS I will consider this day a success but I still really need to increase my output. I did wake up on time though. I am committed to increasing my output and tomorrow I will say success for this goal. Stay Strong, Iceberg
Day 8: SUCCESS My most productive and successful day yet. I hope to keep this up in addition to increasing my productivity. Stay Strong, Iceberg
