I’m not that new to nofap but I wanted to give hope and encouragement to the new fellas joining this website.

I feel like I am compelled to share my story and how I got here. I love reading your posts and when new members come on board and start improving their lives.

I am married with four children. And three grandkids. I started my journey in 2010 when I was near suicidal. I told my wife that I think I am addicted to pornography. You would not think that that would be a cause for suicide, but I was extremely depressed.I got counseling and group therapy and went to 12 step groups. Then the nofap website came out in 2011 or 2012. I was able to go one year without masturbation or pornography. My wife and I did the 90 day hard mode. Another time, actually when I first started, I went eight months.

I was exposed to pornography at a very young age, approximately seven years old. I also endured sexual abuse as a child. I have a really big penis and it was even evident even as a prepubescent child. Some other kids and an adult thought they had the right to touch me. To me, masturbation was not sinful or evil or bad. It was what I had learned. It was something that gave me comfort. When I started mixing it with pornography from the Internet, and batebuddy type chat rooms, then things became very severe. I felt like I had split personalities. One life as a wonderful father and husband, and the second secret life of some kind of pervert.

I’m glad to be able to be on this forum, and hopefully my experience can help others. I am a life coach and a mentor, having helped many people with this addiction. That does not mean I am perfect. When I became trained to be a mentor I vowed to never charge money to help fellow porn and sex addicts. Just send me a message for private help.

After my long streaks, I went back to “healthy “masturbation, sometimes even daily, and I have a very good sexual relationship with my wife, we do it three or more times per week.

Many guys who are not married or do not have girlfriends believe that when they get married it will be a solution to their masturbation problem. This is very far from the actual truth. Most of my sex addiction groups consisted of one or 2 Guys who were in their 20s, and the rest are married in their 30s, 40s and 50s and even older. What starts in childhood seems to propagate throughout your entire life. But there is hope. There is recovery. And there is healing. I’m here to share that with you and help this group.

I would love to hear your stories too.

Often porn and masturbation aren’t the problem. They are the coping mechanisms for the real underlying problem, which can be different for each of us.
