    very useful advice

  3. This is an excellent post, how do I post a journal? Also yes mediation really does help. I do mediation once a day for 20 minutes most successful people mediate. So If you want to achieve massive success just repeat what your idol is doing and you will achieve it. I will do whatever it takes to quit. I need all the help I can get. I'm not addict, but I want to kick this habit out of my life.

@NoBrainer you are awesome man! You really gave me the push I needed.. you gave me the chills too! Thank you.

This particular part from your generous advice hit me hard:

    "
    • For every urge you face, you give yourself a choice. Do you give in, or do you outlast the urge? No urge is uncontrollable. No matter how shitty how situation is at the time, you can always make the right decision to walk away and stay clean.
    "
I want to share a bit about my story..
Recently, I finished reading a life-changing book called The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey; I'm not here to discuss how to made every single aspect of my life better, but I highly suggest everyone reads it..
Anyway, the biggest lesson I learned from the book is the first habit: Be Proactive. In short, this habit tells me that I, and only I, am the one in full control of my own life. I embraced this habit indeed, and I applied it to my life. I even recently was rewarded the title 'Mr. Proactive' in a club society I'm in..

Nonetheless, my predicament is in my hypocrisy. Although I am "Mr. Proactive", I was never able to truly control my PMO issues. Once, I decided I wanted to quit, so I started a daily counter. I reached day 10, things were going great.. but in the back of my mind, I knew that I'd relapse. I admit that I convinced myself that it is inevitable..
By day 12, I relapsed. It sucked. 12 days was my record.

Last night I decided (again) that I really wanted to quit. I did some search on the Net and found NoFap, so I joined (you can read my thread here: http://www.nofap.com/forum/index.ph...deserve-her-hi-im-new-here.49150/#post-345574). Up until I read your post, I was very hyped and ready to quit, but I still had the fear of (or submission to) relapsing in the back of my head.. but when I read your post, it hit me hard! "Relapse is a choice", and proactivity is all about choice.

Thanks man.. hit me back :)

    Excellent advice!

If I may add add another tiny but IMHO very important recommendation:
Urinate frequently. Avoid as much as possible a non-empty bladder.

Thanks! :D Good luck in your journey.
Nice. That's a good one actually. Quite often I find urinating can just relieve a bit of pressure which is enough to take the edge off an urge, for the most part anyway. Just one thing, if you want to urinate frequently you also need to stay hydrated. ;) Peace.

Hi Beshr. Thanks for sharing your story. :)

I'd just like to say that it's natural to only get so far on each streak in the early stages of rebooting. If 12 days is your first attempt, then that's awesome! You should be very proud of that. Now you just need to try again and try to beat that record. It will take at least a few attempts and possible lapses to get to the stage where you're completely willing to cut all ties with PMO. I remember I was in your situation when I started as well. I liked the idea of being clean, but I also still liked PMO, so the early stages of my rebooting journey was characterised by a lot of lapses.

I did manage to get a good 50 day streak going free from porn, but I kept masturbating once a week during that time. Eventually I relapsed, and fell pretty hard, and was unable to properly get back up for another two months after that. Eventually, I hit rock bottom. It all felt hopeless. I'd had enough. I decided that I had to make a rock solid resolve to quit this thing for good, otherwise it was going to consume me for the rest of my life. This is where my advice for creating a resolve and action plan comes from. I got organised. I made a plan. I started posting regularly in my own journal. I had an AP. When I started that streak, I thought to myself regularly, "I'm not going to relapse!", especially when that other little voice in your head tries to tell you that relapsing sounds like a good idea. Somehow I've managed to continue with my resolve, despite coming very close to relapsing again a few times. But like I said, for every urge you get, you have to ask yourself if what you're about to do is worth it. How does it compare to your long term goals? How does it compare to your resolve? Based on those questions you ask yourself, you have to come to a conclusion about your decision to act on the urge or not. I think some people don't realise it's a choice, because the decision can happen so fast when you're so addicted that urge=PMO just seems automatic.

Anyway, I think you're on the right track. :) Keep doing what you're doing. Keep trying, and if you fall, get up and try again. The post that galaxim has written in your newbie post gives good specific advice as how you can learn to cut ties with PMO. I'm glad I was able to inspire you. Keep up the good work! :)

    All the best.

This has been a very helpful and encouraging post, since a few hours ago I relapsed for the 3rd time since my start of NoFap. Thank you so much for this and I'll be sure to take note of the points and apply them.

It's been a while my friend.
After that night when I discovered NoFap and read through some inspiring posts as well as yours, I thought I had enough strength and inspiration to quit PMO for good, so I started afresh. I went for another 12 days or so and then relapsed again. Then I started snowballing; PMOing three times a week or so. Then I decided to quit again so I took another look at the forums, created my own resolve and hanged it on my wall, and I managed to stop for another 10 days, but then it happened again :/

This is when I realized I was just being too lazy and that I can never truly quit if I don't get engaged with the NoFap community. So here I am.
I am going to start my own journal and I shall update it regularly. I really want to be done with this crappy habit. I'd appreciate it if you'd visit my journal sometimes.

By the way, I was shocked to read your story. I mean it is really impressive that you're streak has reached this far, 419 days. But to hear that a strong streaker like you had such a rough history is indeed shocking to me. Especially that you actually relapsed after 50 days.
You see, I learned from some friends that in order to start or quit a habit you need to start or stop doing it for at least 21 days.. so having reached 50 days, it seemed surprising to me that you relapsed back then. What do you think was the reason? Didn't you "habitualize" no PMO life back then?
