naltrexone for treating porn addiction

I'm using Naltrexone.
There are two ways you can use it.

One is the Sinclair Method. You take Naltrexone an hour before you watch porn. The medication blocks the opioid receptors, so you don't get the "rush" and reward of watching porn. This helps remove the addiction pathways in your brain. It lessens the association of the "rush" with porn. Overtime, the idea of porn becomes "meh".

The other way is to simply take Naltrexone when you want to manage strong cravings. I currently do this method. If I feel a really strong craving, I take either 12.5 of 25mg of Naltrexone, and it helps. This is about once every one or two months for me. Most days I can manage.

In theory, Naltrexone should also aid recovery, rewiring and resensitization. It blocks the opioid receptors in the brain, which apparently causes the brain to upregulate in response to gain sensitivity to stimuli. But this is speculation, but it was referenced in the book Dopamine Nation.

Naltrexone has a very high success rate with Alcoholics. But at the end of the day, there is no magic bullet. You have to really WANT to beat this addiction. You still need will power and personal effort. You need to adhere to compliance with the Naltrexone treatment protocols.

I would say if you have been trying for years with no change, Naltrexone is worth a shot.

I am currently on 25mg quetiapine and 15mg mirtazapine. It definitely helps me to get my shit done, to get some sleep and it slows my libido. But I do it mainly because of my depression.
I have also watched a study which naltrexone and porn addiction and the results were positive.
But I would consider a doctor and I have to add: You MUST have the willpower to defeat the addiction.
