Hey all, this my first time using this site. I first learned about NoFap through YouTube. I watched testimonies of guys talking about how the 90 day NoFap challenge changed them. I'm 25 years old and have been addicted to masturbation since I was 15. That's a decade of my life! And I honestly want to do anything to free myself from it.

With 10 years of this addiction, feeling lethargic, depressed, and anxiety are all the norm in my life. But I remember how things were brighter when I was a kid. Of course I know being a kid is always considered the "brighter days", but this is different. I remembered up until middle-school, I've always had so much energy and curiosity in the world. I was usually considered one of the "smart kids". The only reason why I bring this up is because I've been noticing my brain power weakening over the years. I was starting to notice this during my college years, and I feel that it's getting worse now days. I know for a fact that masturbation is the culprit. Because of this, I tend to not sleep enough hours on the weekdays, and my usual drain inhibits me from using my mind in a proactive manner. I also have been noticing a lack of focus when I try to use my mind for extended periods of time.

Anyway, now that I gave my life story, I want to try the 90 day challenge. But I'm not sure now to do it right. I've tried multiple times throughout my life to stop my porn addiction in various ways. Usually, the longest I can go is a week and that's not very often. So 90 days is pretty intimidating for me lol.

I welcome any advice from anyone in this site. I'm hoping to learn some valuable knowledge and hope to one day finally free myself from this decade long addiction.

Well, you came to the right place. Lots of people here have found success in making it 90 days. You never know how you'll make it until you first try. I didn't think I could make it 65 days because my best effort was about 30 days. Now I'm well on my way to making it 90 days. What pornography does is that it poisons your mind. It makes you feel like you have to indulge in it in order to make you feel good about yourself. It's deceptive, though. Porn addicts are generally not a happy people.

    Hey drac16,

Thanks for the advice. I like that feat, that you got 65 days even though your longest was 30 days. That's pretty crazy when I think about it.

How did you started your challenge? Like did you do any preparations or anything? Cause I feel like if I start today, I'm not gonna get far.

I made sure to pray and meditate a lot (I'm a christian). Moreover, I fasted for a few days. I only recommend fasting in the case of an emergency; for example, if someone is married and they're hiding their porn addiction from their spouse. It's been interesting to me to see the effect that fasting has. There's something about it that nourishes a person's soul. Anyway, I don't want to go off on a tangent.

To make a long story short, I overcame biology with spirituality. Even though I experience desires to masturbate all the time, I have enough determination to say no. That inner strength builds over time.
