    Hello everyone.

I am a 32yr old male living in southern California. I have always been sexual in nature and tend to have a more open mind in the bedroom so to speak. Since a young age I have been interested in porn, as are most teenagers during this time. Over the years my sexual curiosity expanded and I used the internet to get ideas and learn new and interesting things to try with my partners. At this time I was still performing normally, but at one point I was in an unhealthy relationship in which the relationship was quickly falling apart.. needless to say sex was not something that was happening on a regular basis. Because of this unhealthy relstionship I watched porn and would always satisfy myself through masturbation while watching porn. I had done this for well over a year before the relationship ended. During the end of that relationship as well as after the relationship ended I was depending and counting on porn to assist me in getting an erection and brining me to climax. Never did I think there would be a negative aspect involved with watching porn and masterbating. After a couple years of a sexless relationship and being single for about a year I have now recently started a new relationship. I couldn't be happier with this person, our feelings of love and excitement have flourished over the last 6 months and we have become amazingly close, however my sexual past has been showing the negative impact that I created because of my inability to perform in the bedroom.
I can no longer get an erection or maintain an erection without me touching myself and watching porn. I didn't even realize this was going on with my own body because it became a routine with porn and self pleasuring. It is honestly extremely embarrassing and creates an unwanted feeling of not being able to satisfy my partner. I never used to have this problem in the past and believe excessive porn and masterbation is the cause of it all and that is why I am here. I have spent quite some time dwelling and being depressed without searching for answers to my problems. Thankfully I have found the place that will get me back on track.
I am a healthy and young adult male that has no medical history of any erectile dysfunction. I am active in my daily life and enjoy physical activities such as hiking, mountain biking, running and other forms of exercise.
In my opinion there should be no reason I am having this type of sexual problem. Porn and masturbation has created a negative lifestyle and it's time to reboot my mind!

I wanted to share my story and why I am here. I look forward to talking with others and helping anyone that I can. I was shy and insecure about talking about these types of things so hopefully my story will help you become more open about the situation you might be involved in and you will seek answers just like I am.

    Thanks !

Welcome here! Your story is shared by many others here and all is related to PMO, so being here will mean a great starting point to deal with the addiction (I think is a PMO that acts as a brain-programming what causes such irregular situations)

  4. Hi. Welcome to forum!

Make sure you crate a personal journal thread in Reboot Logs section and blog there on a regular basis. As well as just generally be active participant in various forum discussions. I recommend this to everybody new here because it's the major thing that helped me when I was first starting. Just lurking on forums, reading and learning is great. But it usually is so much more powerful to engage. It helps to keep us motivated and accountable when we are active part of community. And keeps this in front of our minds so we don't forget about importance of it and slip away in our old habits. Sharing is also therapeutic. This is a major reason why AA meetings work so good. But that was developed before internet era. These days we can get most of the same benefits online through communities like this. So don't underestimate the power of active participation.

I would also like to suggest you to look into mindfulness meditation. It has helped me personally tremendously to learn how to deal with urges. It takes a while to get good at it and notice results, so you need to be consistent with it, but once you do it's very powerful. It has been used by sages for thousands of years to deal with various issues of the mind. And in recent decades the science is also catching up to what ancient sages have know for centuries. Meditation these days are widely used as very effective tool by psychologists for treating addiction and by neurologists for supporting recovery of the brain. It is a great exercise for the brain the same way as jogging is great exercise for the body. Check out this Ted talk, it gives a good idea of what's it about when it comes to philosophy. As far as practical side of it there is this awesome smartphone app called Headspace for guided meditations to get you started.

Wish you lot's of strength and success in your reboot journey!

Thank you so much for your support, encouragement and helpful suggestions. I am definitely interested in meditation and will most certainly look for some apps or other online resources to help me rediscover myself.

I greatly appreciate what you told me about being active in the community within the forums and participating in group discussions. I completely agree with it helping more and making things easier not only for yourself but others in the same position.

Today has been a struggle since I have woken up, I believe I am on day 6.. I need to start a daily journal like you suggestion and I would know the exact day I am on. But as I mentioned today has been a struggle so I went back and researched the 10 day challenge videos that get sent daily as a motivational boost. That quite wasn't enough so I can onto nofap... just seeing that I had comments to my post gave me the positive encouragement and reinforced the things I am working to achieve. Thank you everyone !

I couldn't agree more about this being a great starting point, it has allowed me to achieve 6 days free of porn and masterbation, something I haven't done in years. Going from masturbating multiple times a day, each and every day to where I am now not excites me greatly, but because I am just getting started. For anyone that is reading this, please keep going, reach out to others and share your experiences. Doing this will help yourself and help others in their progress!
