This happened to me back in April on my old router, sky decided to block third party dns. But when I phoned up complaining about it sky done a roll back I think it was called, and this changed my settings on my router to the old settings. But now I have a new router with sky it has blocked third party dns again, and when I phoned up complaining sky said this can't be changed, as there is nothing this new router can be rolled back to.

This is a huge problem for me, as I use clean browsing dns and now can't.

any suggestions or help on what I could do to fix this?

Unfortunately, this happens. It really irritates me so much, but I couldn’t do anything to fix it. I can’t understand why it works in this way... I decided to try an option, my friend who is working in IT department, advices this to me. He said that I can try to connect to another provider, that gives more powerful connection. And I tried it. It really worked, I found usave.co.uk, that provides this option for their customers. So, I’m really grateful for these guys, now I don’t have any problems, and can play wherever I want.

I made this post back in December 2019. Sky actually stopped hijacking people's routers because the amount of people who were complaining to them about it. Your internet service provider doesn't have the right to hijack your router to the point it disables important functions on your computer.

It's your right if you want to use a third party dns, and if your internet service provider literally hijacks your router to stop you from being able to this then they're not a trustworthy internet service provider.

I suspect sky done this because they were bringing out a new parental control system that you had to pay for. But the thing is if you could change your dns to a third party dns then this made this new parental control system useless. I suspect this is why sky decided to hijack peoples routers so they couldn't use third party dns.

Like I said though, when I read up about it online sky were getting a serious level of complaints about this, about how people could no longer use a third party dns. I think a lot of people were leaving sky because of this, and considering leaving sky because of this. I considered leaving because of this, because like I said no internet service provider has the right to hijack your router and disable functions like that on your computer.

So I think sky realised how much of a problem this was for a lot of their customers, so they stopped hijacking peoples routers and scrapped the new parental control system they were planning on bringing out.
