hey everyone I'm currently on a 14 day streak and I was quite certain I was gonna relapse like 2 days in considering I have PMO'ed (no joke) everyday for the last 7 years except maybe just a handful of days. Last Saturday was fucking hard as hell. Never felt pmo tension like that before but I made it through.

But I mostly want to talk about books and PMO. I read a lot and most of my reading is sci-fi, and fantasy, and on rare ocasion a Dan Brown novel. ( The Sword of Truth, Wheel of Time, Dresden Files, Otherworld, Dark Tower) those sort of things.

The reason I'm bringing this up is because reading is a way for me to keep away from pmo. Those Titles mentioned are predominantly Fantasy and bloody as hell, but some of them have a elements of romance entwined in them. ( see where I'm going with this) Anyone here who is familiar with these titles no what I mean. Some scenes (though few and far between) are just downright sexy. (Yea who says guys don't like the squishy stuff.)

Basically I guess what I'm trying to say is can this impede the rewiring of my mind? I'm not gonna relapse to pmo and I'll be damned if I'm gonna relapse to RMO ( Read Masterbate Orgasm)

Any insight or ideas would be nice. Thank you all.

  2. Hello and welcome to NoFap!

I'd only avoid books with erotic scenes if they are triggers and bring on urges. If they don't, then I wouldn't be concerned.

  3. Hey @gsherman100 ,

I'm just a normal ordinary member. No moderator super powers and no special insite. I share my ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope) of what works for me.

Just another warm welcome and a heart felt hello. This community has helped me so much.

What worked for me was "working" it. It took hard work for me to complete a hard reboot (No pmo) for 120 days, then move into a Sex Positive mode.

First, reading the literature published by NoFap itself along with reading journals.

Then, doing the work. Writing in my journal and replying to introductions and other's journals.

Finally, but not least, getting involved with the fellowship. I found it on the forums, but also in people's profiles. The forums tend to be longer posts, where the profiles tend to be more "conversational".

That is what has worked for me. I like to remind myself that this community was here waiting for me with the lights on when I arrived. Now, I have to do my best to be there when someone comes to the community.

Yea I went a head and made the descision to find a different book. Which is a shame really because you got 800 pages of just straight up awesome and then some where in the middle there is two paragraphs describing some sensual scene.

I thought maybe I could just skip over those parts (sexy scenes may give a book some flare but it doesn’t add anything to the plot) because I’m not quite sure if it can trigger me or not.

But I’ll just play it safe. Already picked out another book.

Hey thanks. I spent pretty much all day at work reading on Nofap

  6. Hey @gsherman100 ,

    More Reading for you:

One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals.

I've included journals from all age groups, spiritual members, religious members, secular members, male and female. You should find journals that help. If not, look around, there are hundreds of others from which to choose. When I say "it works if you work it", reading journals is part of that work.

Once you open a journal, click "Watch Thread" in the upper right of the page to get alerts when new posts are made. Here are just a few:

There are many more, and you can discover them on your own. But, these are great places to start.

This is a work in progress. So, if a journal has changed or is no longer active, look around there are some amazing journals on here.
