Hey everyone,

I have done extensive research about porn addiction. I was able to stay clean for 3 months twice while I was in therapy but now am kind of losing hope. I need some accountability and support. I know I can’t do this alone. I am married with young kids and in my mid thirties. I really want to succeed again but for way longer.

I’m feeling very optimistic. I like that there is an abundance of people to connect with. My therapist always would tell me that connection beats addiction.

I heard an interesting lecture once, the speaker told a story to think about. Imagine a doctor examining a smoker and saying: "If you don't stop smoking soon, you will die". Some smokers might wake up now, but most don't care. Now imagine the same situation, only this time the doctor examines the smoker's beloved child and says: "If you don't stop soon, your child will become seriously ill". In this situation most people would give up smoking. Why? Because our love for others can be stronger than our love for ourselves. You have a family, take this love for them as a motivator. Imagine what your life would be like if you were free of this "slavery" for a year. You need an inner motivation, a "why" and you need a goal!

You have already made the biggest step to seek help, I hope that many more will support you in this community! We count on you! You can do it! Stay strong!

I'd recommend that you start a reboot log to journal your progress and find a couple of other logs you can follow to start making some connections. You can also check out the accountability partners section, there's lots of people looking for someone to check in with regularly to help keep them accountable. Good luck, brother!
