I should probably start this thread off by introducing myself and my background, so, Hi, I am 23 years old, and i have been a internet porn addict since March of 2011, well over 10 years. My porn addiction started with a simple video of 2 lesbians, now it has enveloped into me watching categories and developing fetishes that are beyond foul. I wish to end my addiction to internet porn and be rid of these fetishes.

Are you sure you wish to reveal your name on here? If you do, that's cool - more power to you for having it in the open, but you should work on the assumption that anyone you know, now or in the future will be able to find this.

  8. Dude, I would seriously, seriously consider not using your real name. I'd kindly suggest deleting this and maybe coming back later. I just foresee that this could result in unplanned trouble and I would hate for that to happen to anyone.

I think that's put several minds at ease ;)

But with that out the way, welcome and all the best on this journey. There's a wealth of resources available on here; I heartily recommend reading up on it as much as you can - "forewarned is forearmed" and all that.

My advice? Never kid yourself that you have self-control. If you hear an inner voice saying "ah, it'll be alright to just look at this image/video, it's not porn" that's the moment to break the cycle and go do something else.

  14. Everyone here has gratified themselves to all sorts of things they’d rather not admit. The details of what you were looking at aren’t all that important. If you want to shake off the porn habit you have got to find direction in your life and get after it relentlessly. And it’s got to be a direction you choose for yourself.

You must be able to answer this question:

What do I want my life to be like and how far am I willing to go to make that happen?

If all you want is to “not look at at porn anymore” you aren’t likely to succeed. That is among the most mediocre goals a man can set for himself. Worse, it keeps you defined by your relationship to porn. It may take a lot of trial and error, but you’ve got to figure out what you are passionate about and get after it. What do you like doing more than watching porn? That’s the question that needs answers. When you start living the life you want, looking at porn won’t seem like a viable option. Figure out what that life looks like for you and start making that life your reality.

Work hard and believe in you own abilities. If you don’t, you will waste your life with porn, video games, binge watching, YouTube rabbit holes, endless tiktoking and every other modern form of electronic distraction. You will hate yourself for it because somewhere inside the voice that made this post will keep on nagging at you. Meanwhile, the women you want IRL won’t be giving you the time of day, much less getting into bed with you. Start making change today.

i propose should’ve said this when starting this thread, but I want to be able to practice the ways of NoFap without developing viewpoints on life that are akin to those of an incel. are there any ways i can accomplish that? if so, please let me know

  16. Just be yourself. You will get lots of advice, some good, some not. Some people mean well, but they tend to go overboard with their posts and advice. Oh well, such is life.
I will offer two bits of advice that have been very helpful to me.
If you are keeping a count of your so-called "streaks" I advise against it. However, I do understand it is a personal decision. But I like to consider every day as day #1. And I do not want to emphasize my last PMO session cuz basically, who cares? A week, two weeks or 30 days max, then forget counting.
Educate yourself about all kinds of addictions - smoking, alcohol, gambling, whatever. You can learn a lot about yourself and your own urges with this knowledge. You also begin to think more about other people and what they struggle with, which takes some of the emphasis off of yourself.
